We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Caroline Koziol a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Caroline thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I created KarolkaShow mostly because I wanted to make people laugh. My friends often told me that I always made them laugh, but I wasn’t certain if they were merely being kind or genuinely meant it. My first video was about a Polish builder calling an insurance company to fix his washing machine. His English wasn’t good enough to communicate properly, and within a few hours of posting it on TikTok, it received more than 1 million views! I was so surprised and happy about it. I then gained 100k followers in three months. My content has changed a bit; now I’m developing a character called Emily, a secretary working at a hospital. This character has gathered lots of positive attention. My followers give me so much, and I’ve built a community with them. I read every comment, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support I receive. However, it wasn’t easy to start with. I tried to succeed on TikTok for the past two years, but none of my channels were successful. I kept posting every day for nine months, and through consistent effort, I finally managed to build an audience. I found it tricky at the beginning because my videos barely got any views, but I read that consistency is key, so I decided to keep going.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My TikTok is called Karolka Show, where I primarily create comedy videos. However, occasionally I also upload lifestyle content, such as training vlogs for an upcoming marathon next year. I derive immense joy from making people laugh; it ignites something within me. One of my proudest moments was when someone messaged me saying they shared my video with a friend who had been depressed, and it brought a smile to their friend’s face for the first time in a while. It moved me to tears. This feedback motivates me to create more videos. I printed out that message and placed it on my “dream” wall. It’s the first thing I see every morning when I wake up.
While I strive to focus on positivity, being on TikTok inevitably exposes me to negative comments. I try not to dwell on them, but sometimes when I’m feeling down, I find myself reading them. Unfortunately, it’s not helpful at all! That’s when I have to call my best friend, who reminds me not to let it get to me. After all, I’m only human :)

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, definitely. I love making people laugh, and when I feel sad, being creative helps me immensely. With every video, I work on building my confidence and learning new skills. I hope to continue growing on TikTok and perhaps explore opportunities in comedy more deeply one day! Thanks to TikTok, I’ve even tried stand-up comedy, and I absolutely loved it! My ultimate goal is to have a team to collaborate with because creating videos alone can sometimes feel lonely. It’s on my vision board!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I tried to build an audience on TikTok for over 2 years, but I didn’t succeed. My videos barely had any views! I was mostly posting for myself and my friends, haha. After 2 years of trying, I created a different account, and one of my videos now has over 8 million views! I was over the moon. I’m so glad that I didn’t stop and give up.
