Caroline, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?

Being able to pursue my passion for art and creativity as a profession is a true blessing.

As an artist, I have the freedom to express myself authentically and explore the depths of my creativity. I find tremendous joy in the process of creating, whether it’s putting brush to canvas, writing, or teaching others. It allows me to tap into a sense of flow and connect with something greater than myself.

The connections and relationships I have formed with fellow artists, students, and art enthusiasts are invaluable, and they contribute to my overall happiness as a creative.

As I sit down to write this feature article, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the journey that has brought me to where I am today. My name is Caroline Karp, and I am a woman of many passions, talents, and creative pursuits. My love affair with art began at a young age when I would spend countless hours with a paintbrush in hand, immersed in a world of colors and imagination. It was a form of self-expression that allowed me to communicate my deepest emotions and connect with the world around me. Little did I know that this childhood hobby would blossom into a lifelong passion and career.

Throughout the years, I have explored various mediums and techniques, constantly pushing the boundaries of my artistic abilities. From the romantic expressionism of my iconic buildings to the vibrant hues of my sailboats and sunflowers, my paintings capture the essence of the environment and evoke a sense of emotion in the viewer.
My journey as an artist has taken me to different corners of the world. I have established studios in Washington D.C., Kauai, and Tampa Bay, each location leaving its indelible mark on my artistic style. As a Plein Air painter, I venture out into nature, capturing fleeting moments and places with an expressionistic perspective. The process is intense and exhilarating, as I strive to convey the energy and spirit of the scene onto the canvas.

But my artistic endeavors go beyond painting. I am also an author, illustrator, educator, and host of the “Behind the Art Inspiration” podcast. One of my achievements is co-authoring “The Creative Lifebook”, a #1 international bestseller that serves as a guide for women to explore their creative potential and live a more expressive life. Through my workshops and retreats, I empower women to tap into their creative selves, encouraging them to live authentically and embrace their artistic journeys.

What sets me apart from others in my field is my unwavering belief in the power of art to inspire, provoke, and heal. I see art as a vehicle for transformation, both on an individual and collective level. It is a language that transcends barriers and allows us to connect with one another on a deeper, more meaningful level. My dedication to the well-being of humankind is at the core of everything I do, and it is my hope that through my art and teachings, I can make a positive impact on the world.
Over the years, my work has garnered recognition internationally. I have been featured in prestigious publications and podcasts, such as New Visionary Magazine, The Georgetowner, and Art NXT Level. These opportunities have allowed me to share my story and connect with a global audience of art enthusiasts and fellow creators.

In addition to my individual pursuits, I founded the International Online Art Collective. This community of artists from around the world comes together to showcase their artwork and share their creative journeys with a global audience. It is a space of collaboration, inspiration, and support, where artists can thrive and grow.
When I’m not immersed in the world of art, you can find me enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Clearwater, Florida. Whether I’m on the golf course, the pickleball court, out on the water, or in my studio, I find solace and inspiration in the natural world around me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Absolutely. My mission is to contribute to a world where creativity is celebrated, where individuals are encouraged to express themselves authentically, and where art serves as a bridge that connects people from diverse backgrounds. I believe that through art, we can ignite conversations, challenge perspectives, and cultivate a more compassionate and connected society.

Art has the ability to transcend language, cultural barriers, and societal norms. It allows us to connect with one another on a deep and meaningful level, fostering empathy and understanding. I want to harness this power to create positive change in the world. Whether through my paintings, writing, teaching, or podcasts, I aim to touch hearts, provoke thought, and inspire others to live their fullest, most vibrant lives.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is when someone connects with my artwork and finds resonance with the emotions and messages I convey, it’s an incredibly fulfilling experience. Knowing that my art has the power to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and inspire others is a profound validation of my creative journey.

Witnessing the transformative power of art in the lives of individuals is also incredibly rewarding. Seeing someone discover their own creative potential, overcome self-doubt, and embrace their unique voice is a deeply fulfilling experience. I feel privileged to be a part of their artistic journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and support along the way.

The creative process itself brings immense joy and fulfillment. When I immerse myself in the act of painting, I enter a state of flow where time seems to disappear, and I am fully present in the moment. It’s a meditative experience that allows me to express my innermost thoughts, emotions, and perspectives.
