We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Caroline Dawes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Caroline thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I have been cooking since a young girl growing up in Jamaica this is a family tradition as well as a pastime! I was raised by my great grandmother along with my four sisters and we all love to cook! Cooking is my happy place so I figured why not make money doing what I love! I’ve always cooked for people including my daughters friends and people just enjoyed the food so here I am !

Caroline, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

One day I just decided to got for it ! America is the land of dreams and starting your own business these days is the thing to do! What sets me apart from others is I care how people judge my food and want to make it better so I am open to advice and constructive criticism you know? I make my food with love and TLC ! I haven’t encountered any problems as of yet as the business is new but I want to be able to be open to advice to fix any upcoming concerns! Being in business isn’t easy but I’m a hardworking woman and I can take whatever is an obstacle!

Just know I am here to give you the best food you’ve ever had in your life !

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

My daughter actually has her own social media promotional company and has been a backbone in this business especially on the media side so I am lucky to have her! She understand the analytics and more to build my social media platforms up next look out for the website!!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Well being a black woman immigrant in this country and a mother of three I’ve always had to just navigate and make it work! Life isn’t easy but if things came easy you wouldn’t appreciate it as much ! Hard work isn’t for the weak but I’ve always been a fighter for what I want and I will continue with that motivation within my business !
