We recently connected with Carolina Panoff and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolina , thanks for joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
Every month I have the immense pleasure of facilitating transformational dance experiences for people of all ages, races, ethnicities, status etc. Dance has the power to transcend barriers and bring people together celebrating out common humanity.
After the experience, I pass around the microphone giving participants an opportunity to share any insights or their wisdom surrounding the experience and here are just a few examples.
People have lost a loved one and felt the presence of their recently deceased relative on the dance floor. An African American girl was being held and supported by two white women and felt ancestral trauma from her lineage be released. People who have felt isolated and alone have come and shared how they haven’t felt this level of connection to other humans in a long time.
There are so many heart warming stories like this and its because the experience is designed to loosen our armor, our protection mechanisms, and when we do this we can truly experience the love and goodness in people that is always present.
Carolina , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into Life Coaching because I absolutely love the path towards greater freedom and acceptance. I used place a lot of limitations on myself that made me feel very small, afraid, and self-conscious. I went on a journey of integrating parts of myself that needed attention and healing, and it lit a fire within to help others to do the same. I do this in my 1:1 coaching containers in which I help clients learn to accept themselves to success, and learn emotional mastery.
I started Be You Disco as a fun wellness and embodiment practice to help bring people together, and celebrate life after the pandemic. One of the things I always struggled with was creative expression as I had labeled myself as an athletic jock as a child and never explored that side of me. This experience is the medicine that I needed when I was younger. It challenges you to let go, dance freely, and listen to your body allowing you to access your creativity and new ways of moving. It is a mindfulness practice and a powerful embodiment practice that can bring about healing, inspiration, and new awareness.
Today, we not only host community discos, but specialize in corporate team building. Dance is proven to build empathy and communication among teams. It brings a level of authenticity into the work place that cultivates great culture.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I now guide 100’s of people through transformational dance experiences and one lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I needed to know it all to get started. There was definitely some fear in starting Be You Disco, a sort of imposter syndrome you could say.
The truth is, fear dissolves in action. Fear lives in the mind, and with each embodied action step you take it dissolves. Through action we can challenge limiting beliefs that we have placed on ourselves.
I help others move past their fears and their imposter syndrome with ease and grace. From a place of understanding instead of resistance. It’s never a good idea to resist these parts of ourselves.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
