Carolina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe that what takes to be successful, is persistence, dedication (daily) and when things go in ways that you didn’t expected or that you’re not liking that much, to pause for a second and keep going stronger, sometimes those moments are huge for your career and will help you to grow in ways that you couldn’t imagine (if you keep going and let your strength guide you), you think you want to give up because the challenges that are happening in front of you, but your dream or goal are right around the corner looking at you to see if you’re going to keep going or give up when you’re almost there. Just keep in mind no matter what if is your dream or one of your goals in life, keep going, and enjoy the process, every step, every moment. Another thing that I’ve learned is to surround yourself with people that supports you and loves you back as well, creating together, with the right people will be key for your success and then we will enjoy the fruits all together.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Carolina, an artist, a model, I started working in the fashion industry when I was 17 years old… well everything started when I was going to school with (7 years old) I used to love taking dancing classes, acting classes, acting at the theatre, had my own band at the school where I was the lead singer, and I knew I wanted to become something from what I was doing, was my passion, I used to tell my mum that I wanted to start as soon as possible, she used to tell me first finish school, then we can talk about it, being from Canary Islands, the opportunities were less, so I finished school, was about to start the university and a model agency from Canary Islands started to represent me, from there everything started, I got signed with agencies all around Europe (Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Germany, Italy) couldn’t believe what was happening!, the little girl dreams came true, I had my first fashion week in Milan and I walked many times for Giorgio Armani, and worked for many other designers that I admired, (photoshoots for magazines, catalogs, shows, campaigns) and being from an island in the middle of the Atlantic and doing all those travels, meeting incredible people, having beautiful experiences was incredible. Of course sometimes was really challenging, I had moments where I just wanted to give up, but I didn’t, and that’s the beauty, that makes you who you’re, had to go through many tuff moments far from family and that builds in you resilience, helps you to grow internally in ways that your couldn’t imagine, I learned how to be patience, to forgive, to be present, to appreciate everything and to keep loving always, and that if wasn’t today we hopefully have a tomorrow to give it another try. Then I had another dream, and was to be and live in New York, here I am, I’m signed with an incredible agency here and I keep growing and expanding my career, and really grateful for my team. I did a short movie 2 years ago here in NYC, with an amazing team, as a lead actress, and got nominated in many festivals around the world, was unexpected and a experience that I would love to repeat. Something that I’m proud of is the person that I’m becoming, that all the lessons turned in to knowledge and didn’t turn my light off, that will be helpful to inspire and help other people going through whatever situation similar or maybe no, but just being open and there for them, you never know how much you can impact/change someone’s life in a positive way, that’s something I learned and would be great if we all do the work internally, to be mindful, respectful and gentle with each other.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and my mission with my creative journey and my career in general is to inspire as many people as possible, and tell my story. I think that’s one of the reasons why we are here in earth, to inspire with our journeys and have a positive impact no matter what you’re doing, we all can help and inspire one another.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The beauty of connecting with other human beings that are creating as well at the same time as you, (the magic and connection) is like when you plant a garden and we all put our little seed and you don’t know what’s gonna grow, you’re taking care of that garden, adding water, love, sunlight, then you see the end result while you enjoyed the process and is a magical garden full of diversity, colors, scents and forms, that’s how I feel when I create with many artist, to look at the piece of art that we all create.
