Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carol Wilson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carol, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was a child actor, starting out professionally as Ken Dodd’s diddyman and progressing into musical theatre and television.
I left the industry to become a Police Officer for eighteen years and retired on medical grounds after an accident on duty. I returned to the industry in a coach, agent, producer capacity as it is in my blood and what motivates me every day.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Carol is passionate about and committed to her clients. She challenges them to use their imaginations to create strong and believable characters and find their way to understanding even the most complex of characters and circumstances.
She also has the knack of explaining even the most complicated story lines to children and teens to help them create emotionally driven characters in a way that means they can leave the character on the set.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
There are many stories over the years and working predominantly with children, teens and young adults they are often funny or I have to find a way to make them a fun creative experience even when the storylines are dark.
I was the coach on Salem for 20th Century Fox with an incredible 8 year old actor who played the lead role of The Dark Lord. Over three seasons he had to have an exorcism, be buried in a forest of snakes and drowned in a bath. I made the whole thing a game and we thought of characters from his gaming that we could base the experiences on.
In-depth discussions with the directors and adult actors are important too to make sure we find the most truthful and believable footage possible.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to help actors enjoy the whole experience not just feel jubilant and successful when they book a job.
Our classes and workshops focus on this. We create a family environment and we work as a team.
Our company Camera Ready runs courses that give onset experience in the making of pilots, short and feature films. We also offer full onset experience to create showreels. This allows the actors to be working and experiencing the world of television and film from every angle.
Camera Ready has been running for 15 years and has courses in Los Angeles, London, Liverpool and Marbella (Spain)
