We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carmona Bessee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Carmona thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?

First it was just a simple favor. I am always ready to help my family and friends in need, but one request became a spark of inspiration. When I was asked to help a friend for an event, it was mainly because she knew I was very creative. She wanted to draw on my artistic talents as a graphic designer and has seen how I’ve decorated.

Based on that, I was on my way to launching an entire enterprise after an event that caught me by surprise. I worked hard to create the vision she desired for her event, cultivating elegant ideas and installing craft creations we made from scratch. The end result? A beautiful scenescape. She was taken aback, and so was I!

Looking at what I had created, I realized this skill was definitely something that was missing from many of the events I’ve observed. Being so involved in my community, I saw that the atmosphere of each event can be especially enhanced through event planning. From this, I started posting about my decor concepts on social media. After that, it was all history. I began booking small to large clients, steadily making my way into the wedding arena.

Carmona, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

A little bit about me, I originally began as a graphic designer turned event planner after years of getting involved in local events. A hobby of mine was interior design, but I never thought to apply it in a professional setting.

My services are now to deliver a memorable experience to clients who are undergoing a major life milestone. We solve problems by helping our clients achieve the look they want using a limited budget.

Creative innovation, resourcefulness, and craftiness play a huge part in making their vision come to life. I’m so proud of the results and the response from my clients. When their eyes light up after entering a room that I’ve worked on for hours, I feel fulfilled.

The In Full Bloom brand is all about bringing out the best in an event, moving from the bud or vision phase to the bloom or full culmination of the event

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal is to focus mainly on creating a beautiful journey for betrothed couples, although I will take on other occasions as well. Because weddings are the most illustrious and demanding events, I always feel challenged to overcome unexpected obstacles for a splendid experience.

Our mission is to take a client’s vision and make it into a dream come true, regardless of a client’s budget. Insurmountable difficulties often involve some aspects of decor being well out of a client’s income range.

However, we can still create a eye-popping occasion despite these limitations. I take my client on a journey through their special moment and the result is a memorable event that they can share with their most treasured loved ones.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

I’ll be quite frank, I started without the help of seed funding or investors. I invested into my business using my own funds and provided my own capital.

A new talent of mine was digging up reputable event rental providers who could rent me quality items at reasonable rates. This was a life saver for furniture and other large objects that were out of the client’s budget.

I also purchased my own signature pieces little by little over time that I could incorporate into my event planning & design.
