We recently connected with Carmen Quintero and have shared our conversation below.
Carmen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents had a positive influence. They were extremely affectionate and kind, for them the family and their children were the most important thing. I had the joy of growing up in an environment full of love and support at all times. In short, I am sure that this has helped me to grow positively and to face the inconveniences that arise in the best possible way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a teacher by profession but since I was a child I have always loved arts and crafts. I was lucky to have the support of my mother who was an excellent weaving artisan. I dabbled in various artisanal techniques such as ceramics, stained glass, porcelain, but paraffin carving definitely caught my attention. Currently I am also venturing into the art of soy candles, creating motifs and figures, also using dried flowers. I try to add my own elements to my creations that differentiate me from other creators and I listen to my clients’ suggestions about what they want to capture on , whether it is a carved piece of paraffin that evokes past memories for them or on my botanical candles that can include elements, such as flowers, used in a birth, baptism or marriage, so that this memory lasts forever. I really in love with what I do and I think I transmit that love in every piece I do.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Definitely valuing the work of the artists, crafts, creatives, the hours and the love and enthusiasm invested by each one of them in their creation. It is not only about the economic part, thinking about the monetary value that what has been created, but giving it the fair value in terms of love, ideas and enthusiasm to achieve it.
When we support artists/crafts etc., we are creating culture, stimulating business, inspiring young minds, creating tourist destinations and a kinder world for all.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes. I wish to see many more people involved in the journey of creating and making a kinder world through art.
