Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carmen Moreno. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carmen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my online photography school on Patreon.
For years, photography has been more than a profession for me — it’s been a way to express emotions, tell stories, and connect deeply with people and places. After dedicating a big part of my life to visual storytelling, I realized that the knowledge, experience, and passion I’ve gathered could actually inspire and empower others.
Starting my Patreon was a way of breaking the limits of geography and offering guidance to aspiring photographers, especially those who — like me when I started — don’t always have access to formal education or expensive resources. It’s meaningful because it’s not just about teaching photography techniques, but about building a creative community, where people can explore their artistic voice, understand visual language, and feel supported in their creative journeys.
This project is deeply personal. It reflects not only my love for photography but also my belief in the power of community and shared knowledge. It has helped me grow as a creator and, at the same time, has allowed me to witness the growth of others — and that is truly priceless.

Carmen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a visual storyteller, venezuelan photographer, and content creator based in Costa Rica
My journey into photography started from a deep passion for observing life and capturing the beauty of everyday moments. I grew up surrounded by stories — in books, films, photography ( my father was photographer) and music — and photography became my way of telling my own. Over the years, what started as a personal passion grew into a profession, and now I work not only as a photographer but also as a visual content creator for businesses and as an educator for aspiring photographers through my online school on Patreon.
I specialize in visual storytelling, which means I focus on creating images and videos that don’t just look beautiful but communicate a message, evoke emotions, and connect with audiences. I’ve worked with entrepreneurs, artists, and small businesses, helping them develop strong visual identities for their brands — from social media content to campaign imagery.
What makes my work unique is the blend of technical expertise and an artistic, human approach. I believe photography is not just about composition and light, but about understanding the emotion behind every frame. Whether I’m working on commercial projects, personal art, or teaching photography, I always prioritize connection, meaning, and authenticity.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building a creative community through my online school. It’s a space where I share everything I’ve learned over the years, from photography fundamentals to the deeper aspects of creative thinking and visual storytelling. Seeing other creators grow and develop their own artistic voice is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
I want people to know that behind every image I create, and every piece of content I share, there’s a true passion for visual storytelling and a commitment to helping others tell their stories, too.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist, is the ability to create meaningful connections – both with the world around me and with the people who experience my work.
Through photography and visual storytelling, I have the opportunity to capture emotions, moments and perspectives, that might otherwise go unnoticed. Art has the power to make people feel, seen, understood, inspired or even comforted. Every time someone tells me that an image I created moved them, brought back a memory, or helped them see something differently , I reminded of why I chose this path.
Being a creative also mean I’m constantly learning, observing, and evolving. It’s a journey of growth, self-expression and exploration that keeps life exciting and meaningful. The fact that I get to share that process with others — whether through my photography, my content, or my teaching — is truly the most fulfilling part of what I do.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience has been a constant companion throughout my creative journey, but one story that truly shaped who I am began when I left Venezuela and moved to Costa Rica.
I arrived in a country I didn’t know, without family, friends, or a safety net. Starting over from zero in a new place was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but also one of the most defining. In the middle of that uncertainty, photography became both my refuge and my guide. I embraced it fully — not only as a creative passion but as a path toward rebuilding my life.
Years later, that same resilience pushed me to launch my online photography school on Patreon during another period of personal and professional transition. I didn’t have a big team or a perfect plan, just my experience, my vision, and the deep desire to share what I’ve learned with others.
Building this project from the ground up, step by step, while navigating doubts, obstacles, and fear of failure, has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life.
That process taught me that resilience isn’t about never falling — it’s about finding the strength to stand up, adapt, and stay connected to your purpose, no matter where life takes you.
