We recently connected with CARLY MUNIZ and have shared our conversation below.
CARLY, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I came to the USA back in April 15 2015 to Tampa Bay, FL with my firstborn Amaya. I first lived in Lakeland and I immediately started applying for jobs everywhere. Back then, I only had my bachelors in International Business. I started applying at different banks because that’s my background and what I used to do back in my country Dominican Republic. Every job I applied I would get a NO. So, I decided to apply at Verizon Wireless doing customer service on their call center located in Hillsboro Avenue and they gave me the opportunity. This was my very first job in United States. I was hire on June 25, 2015 (Just two months after arriving to the United States) I started as a bilingual customer service rep, then moved up to the escalation queue then joined a couple of “projects” doing different roles until I became a supervisor. At first, when I started in Verizon my English wasn’t as good as now (PRACTICE MAKES PERFECTION) and I still have a lot to learn. While working at Verizon I decided to start my master’s degree with concentration in Management. I worked at Verizon for almost four years. I decide to make a change because I wasn’t happy, I’m a numbers person and I like working at an “office environment” I decided to apply at GTE FINANCIAL a credit union where I was also given the opportunity to work as a loan officer (I did take a pay cut) but that’s what I really wanted to do. I started at GTE in 12/2018 as a Loan Officer working in the Plant City Location. Later in 2/2020, I was encouraged by my branch manager to apply as the assistant branch manager for the Brandon branch and I did and of course got the job! 🙂 I’m passionate about the banking industry. While executing that role, I became very interested in the mortgage industry. When the COVID-19 came to change the world, I decided to leave GTE FINANCIAL and started working remotely as a Mortgage Loan Processor for an outsourcing company for a few months. While doing so, I decided to get my own license on my own so that I can originate loans and work remotely with a broker company. Today, I can happily say that I’m a successful mortgage broke me who is currently licensed in FL, MI & GA. My ultimate goal is to continue to grow with my current company; i3 Lending and become licensed in many other states. I love my job, I love helping people achieving their dream and buy their biggest investments of their life. Make the impossible POSSIBLE.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Dedication, honesty, communication, experience, and last but not least, truly caring about my clients and their needs are the foundation for my business!
I always focus on finding options for my clients. I not only issue pre approvals but also educate my borrowers on every aspect of the transaction.
What sets me apart from others is my willingness to help and my availability. I can say that I have a weakness spot for my immigrants because this is NOT their culture, country, language and I WAS THERE. So I always want to make sure that they are educated in the home buying process.
Nothing that’s worth it comes easy. Having a little one and not been able to spend a lot of time with her because of work is never easy. That was definitely not the easiest thing to do. Also, let’s not forget my “language barrier” I felt so disappointed of myself because I knew that I always could have done better but because of my English not been so perfect, I struggled.
Before being able to work at a Financial institution, I got a lot of NOs because of my lack of experience or the way the interview was conducted. It was frustrating and I would always say, “if I were in my country, that wouldn’t have happened”.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honesty, and the willingness to go above and beyond for my clients. Always having their best interest at heart is what makes me special to them and how I keep fostering my relationship with every single one of them.
Following up as promised or requested is a must. This builds trust within your network which is ultimately what you need to grow and build a strong referral network.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Besides referral from previous borrowers, I can say that my social media presence is strong enough to bring in more leads. I’m bilingual so I have the opportunity to help my community very closely as well. I frequently post in related groups on FACEBOOK, I not only sell my services, but I also like to educate and provide help to anyone who is trying to buy / refinance their home at no cost.
