Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Fauth.
Hi Carly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with fitness started long before I ever became a fitness professional—it’s always been a part of who I am. With over 15 years in the industry, I built a career as a fitness instructor, passionate about helping others feel strong and confident. I launched FitFunCarly in 2022, a virtual fitness community that makes movement accessible for everyone. But everything changed when I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.
Determined to maintain my strength—both physically and mentally—I kept moving, continuing to exercise and teach fitness classes throughout chemotherapy and surgery. That experience reinforced what I already knew: movement isn’t just about fitness; it’s about resilience, healing, and hope.
Inspired to help others facing similar challenges, I became a Cancer Exercise Specialist. I also launched Chemo Coffee Talk, a podcast sharing stories of strength and perseverance. I started it from my chemo chair and now continue it from my kitchen!
Now, as the author of Pray for the Bear, I’m on a mission to help others discover their own power—whether they’re battling cancer, overcoming life’s challenges, or simply striving to feel their best.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—cancer certainly wasn’t part of my plan. But beyond my own battle, one of the biggest struggles has been getting people to truly understand how important movement is, especially during a challenging time like cancer.
So many people think exercise is just about looking a certain way or hitting a fitness goal, but it’s so much more than that. It’s about mental strength, resilience, and healing. When I was going through chemotherapy, people were shocked that I kept moving, but for me, it wasn’t about pushing through pain—it was about feeling like me. It was one of the only things I could control in a time when everything else felt out of my hands.
I see the same hesitation in so many cancer patients, survivors, and even caregivers. There’s fear—fear of doing too much, fear of not being strong enough, fear that rest means stopping completely. But movement isn’t all-or-nothing. It can be as simple as stretching, walking, or breathing with intention. The hardest part is helping people shift their mindset, to see exercise as a tool for feeling better, not just something to check off a list.
That’s why I created FitFunCarly—to break down those barriers and make movement accessible, safe, and empowering. The road hasn’t been easy, but every time I see someone realize their own strength, it’s worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about FitFunCarly?
FitFunCarly is all about making fitness fun, accessible, and empowering for everyone—whether you’re looking to build strength, improve your health, or navigate a challenging time like cancer. I work with both the general population and cancer patients, specializing in helping people move in a way that feels good for them.
What sets FitFunCarly apart is the focus on movement as a tool for both physical and mental well-being. As a Cancer Exercise Specialist and longtime fitness instructor, I create programs that meet people where they are—whether it’s through my virtual fitness programs, one-on-one mentoring or group classes. For cancer patients and survivors, I provide safe, effective movement plans that help them stay active through treatment and recovery. And for caregivers, I offer support because their well-being matters, too.
I’m most proud of building a brand that is more than just workouts—it’s a community. FitFunCarly is about showing up for yourself, even on hard days. It’s about discovering strength you didn’t know you had. I want people to know that fitness isn’t all-or-nothing, and no matter what they’re facing, movement can be a source of power, healing, and joy.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My best advice for finding a mentor or networking is to lead with genuine connection. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people you admire, ask questions, and start conversations. The best relationships—whether mentorships or collaborations—come from a place of authenticity, not just strategy.
For me, networking has been about showing up, sharing my story, and being open to learning from others. Some of my strongest connections have come from simply engaging with like-minded people—whether through social media, fitness events, or even my own cancer journey. I’ve found that when you’re passionate about what you do, the right people will be drawn to that energy.
Also, don’t be afraid to put yourself in new spaces. Attend events, join communities, and say yes to opportunities, even if they feel outside your comfort zone. And most importantly, always approach networking with a mindset of giving as much as receiving. Offer support, share knowledge, and lift others up—it creates a ripple effect that leads to meaningful and lasting connections.
