Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carly Delengowski. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carly, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
One of the most impactful lessons that I’ve learned from a previous job is the importance of self-belief and advocacy. Initially, I struggled with doubting myself, but I learned to trust my instincts and speak up, realizing that if I didn’t believe in myself, others wouldn’t either. This shift in mindset empowered me to share ideas openly, fostering innovation and collaboration.
Moreover, I learned the value of authenticity and acceptance that not everyone will resonate with me, and that’s okay. Embracing my uniqueness allowed me to focus on meaningful connections and contributions.
These experiences have profoundly influenced my approach in business, emphasizing the importance of self-confidence, open communication and authenticity in fostering a thriving work culture.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey there! I’m Carly Delengowski, and I’m excited to tell you a bit about myself. I started out in media, first as a multimedia journalist at a local TV station, then as a city editor for a local media company. However, in 2021, I decided to shake things up and dive headfirst into the world of marketing and tourism—it’s been one heck of an adventure!
I’ve always had a love for local. Which is what led me to start my own blog, Carly in The Triangle. Raleigh is my jam, so I wanted to share all the cool stuff about it with the world. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to team up with some awesome brands like Dove, Farmer’s Dog and Adidas, which has been a blast.
Right now, I’m all about growing my presence on TikTok and YouTube. It’s a fun way to connect with people and share what I’m passionate about. Plus, it’s a wild ride figuring out the ins and outs of those platforms!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to connect with others. There’s something truly special about sharing a place, product, or experience that I love and hearing from a follower who genuinely appreciates my advice. At the end of the day, my primary goal is to help others in any way I can.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building a social media following isn’t always a walk in the park. While some may have overnight success stories, for most of us, it’s a journey filled with consistent effort and authenticity. When I started out, my main focus was on being genuine and staying true to myself. I found my niche, my people, and I stuck with it.
My biggest piece of advice for those just starting to build their social media presence is to be consistent and authentic. Don’t try to be someone you’re not or chase trends that don’t resonate with you. Instead, focus on creating content that reflects your passions and interests. Find your tribe, engage with them and nurture those connections. Over time, you’ll build a genuine following of people who are truly interested in what you have to offer.
Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a thriving social media presence. Stay patient, stay true to yourself and keep putting in the work. The right audience will find you!
