We recently connected with Carlotta Lennox and have shared our conversation below.
Carlotta, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
I am writing this story for my brother Bryan Lennox. My dad and my brothers growing worked at Advance Meat Company in Enid, Okla. My dad to me was a food scientist.
He loved experimenting with spices and different kinds of meat.
He created the first chicken fried steak that was mass produced in Oklahoma. You probably ate one of his chicken fried steaks from Grandy’s or you might have had chicken fingers served at your school for lunch. Or you may have bought a box of chicken fried steaks from Sams club.
Fast forward 40 years. My brother Bryan just opened up his first Franchise in Spring Tx. “Charleys Philly Steaks and Wings.” He is set to open up his 2nd location this August also in Spring, Tx.
I have been with him from the very beginning. Watching how everything is unfolding. I am now the Local marketing director for his Franchises.
My sister moved from Florida to become his General manager and run the first Charleys Philly Steaks and wings Franchise.
It is an absolute blessing to watch this Franchise take off. I am so excited. My brother flies me down to Houston at least once or twice a month to help with the marketing side. Don’t get me wrong I also like to work the grill and fry station as well.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello I am from Enid, a small town in Oklahoma. I was always the tallest in my class growing up.
While in Miami on vacation I was discovered walking down the side walk by a model scout.
He asked me if I was with a modeling agency. I said no. He gave me a business card and told me to call the number on the card and speak with the owner Irene.
I called and met with Irene the next day at her agency. She signed me to a contract that day. I was now a model with the Irene Marie Modeling agency in Miami.
That is how my career got started. It doesn’t end there. I have had the opportunity to work in Paris, Milan, Belgium and New York doing all of the fashion weeks for many years.
This business is not for the weak. You have to have thick skin to play in this arena. I have been modeling now for over 25 years, and still going strong.
I absolutely love what I do. I am so grateful and extremely blessed. A lot of people would ask me, what is it like to be a model? I would try to explain it to the best of my ability. Then one day it hit me.
Why don’t I allow them to experience and learn what it is like to be a model.
I founded “The Model Experience” in 2015. “The Model Experience” is a 6 week course 2 hours a week with private instruction.
.
We learn about the different types of models, nutrition, fitness, make-up, walking, posing for photo shoots, commercials, agencies, etiquette, resumes and so much more.
The Model Experience is doing so well that I started having clients ask me to help them with their pageant walks.
I then founded “The Pageant Experience” as well. I work with first time pageant contestants and seasoned pageant contestants who are looking for someone to teach them how to walk on the stage with Poise, Grace and Confidence. I also consult them on interview, wardrobe and help choreograph their fitness, fun fashion and evening gown routines.
I love seeing the growth that each one of my clients Experiences after working with me. That is what makes me happy.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation in the market, Is my Work ethic. My Dad always said do your best even when no one is looking. Be the example that others want to follow.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth.
