Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carlos Zambrano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carlos, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We came up with the idea of La Cocina Pickleball when we realized there were not brands promoting pickleball to the Spanish speaking community around the world.
We saw how big this digital brands were, like The Dink, and how fast pickleball is growing in the USA. When something is popular in the USA, it always become popular in Latin America afterwards. It takes a round 3-5 years. With la cocina pickleball, we are educating people so we can have a great start of this beautiful sport
So we started our Digital Brand, and we are now doing events with corporations like the Miami Marlins, and we are staring the first International pickleball tour alongside DUPR.
Carlos, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started playing pickleball in 2021 after the pandemic. I was a good tennis player in highschool, and I have been dying to get back on the courts. For those who play tennis, understand how tough is to find new people to play tennis with, and I have been hearing about this sport pickleball that was growing and it was similar to tennis.
Long story short, I completely felt in love with the industry, and I have been dying since them to do something cool in the industry.
La Cocina pickleball is the house of pickleball in spanish, and our goal is to promote the sport of pickleball throughout quality content and quality events.
So far I am proud of how much we have got done since we started the company back at the beginning of this year. In less than 9 months we have grown a following of 2200 follower, all organically, built two courts in Caracas Venezuela, hosted the Miami Marlins pickleball day as the main sponsors, and we are starting the first international pickleball circuit alongside DUPR
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
First, pick a niche. In our case it was easy beacuase we love pickleball, and it’s the highest growing sport in the USA.
Second, Be consistent. No matter what, always try to post something. A reel, post, or story. At one point you are going to find one your audience likes the most.
Third, follow the data. Your audience is always right, so post as many different pieces of content as possible, and then stick to what your audience like.
4. Expect slumps. Sometimes your engagement and interactions numbers go down. This is not normal. Don’t let this stop you. Remain consitent
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Host events. For us, we notice how are community improves when we host events. This ranges from pickleball clinics to pickleball tournaments. People who play pickleball love it so much for the community. People love getting together.
