We were lucky to catch up with Carlos Valles recently and have shared our conversation below.

Carlos, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

It’s all about the perspective. Being successful takes an understanding that success doesn’t come from having a lot of money or fame. It’s comes from being happy within yourself and working very hard on those things that bring you happiness. Being consistent and always working on becoming a better version of only yourself and not comparing yourself to others.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Carlos Valles and I am the creator of SYRENLABS.com. I specialize in custom over the top heels for extravagant and bold individuals. I’ve always been interested in footwear and would find ways of sculpting shoes with wood when I was first starting out. My brand now 3D prints platforms that we can combine with a wearable shoe to create a story for our customer.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Comparing myself to others and where they are at with their business. I would bring myself down because I would see other business owners and their success and I would feel like I was falling behind. Little did I know, everyone is on their own mission and things will fall into place and everyone’s story is different. Stop comparing your success and where you are at with others and put in the work your business needs.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Graduating with a Bachelors in Fashion Design and thinking I wanted my own clothing line. I decided to stay within the fashion industry but focus on my obsession with heels. I’m glad I followed something that I’m truly passionate about.
