We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carlos Trujeque a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carlos, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My Mom always manifested this for me. She raised me to chase my dreams and to remain humble. “Your day will come”

Carlos, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. after having multiple experiences as a soccer player at a competitive level I decided to teach the youth on what I do best. I’ve played in multiple places and had plenty of quality coaches throughout my soccer career so now I have decided to give back to my community and help mentor young soccer players to become elite and good human beings.
As a coach / Trainer is very challenging because you have to be a role model for your clients. this job takes a lot of discipline. from planning your sessions, continuing your coaching education, and staying healthy are very important things you must do to be successful in this industry
Lake Tahoe Futbol academy is located in south lake Tahoe California, and it provides altitude training for all soccer players from different levels. The elevation will take your game to the next level. having experience from professional coaches shapes our training sessions to be unique.
What makes me proud of having my soccer academy is seeing my players develop their skill and them falling in love with the sport. seeing my players reach their goals brings a smile to my face. It’s awesome watching my players put into practice what we have learned in training into the game.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I think it’s important to be opened minded and to evolve with the game. Never think that you know it all. we teach players to be coachable and as a coach / trainer you have to do the same. surrounding yourself with other coaches, better coaches with more knowledge than you will help you look at things in different perspectives. Always be a student of the game, be able to take constructive criticism. Don’t take things personal.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being from a small community defiantly helped. My reputation in my community as a soccer player is well known and respected. I was blessed on having a community college that supported me and helped me grow in my education and as a student athlete. My performance in the time that i played for my community college was a plus. Being named conference MVP, All American at a JC level and getting ranked as one of the top players in California in 2015/2016 all helped me to build up my reputation. Obviously, we love being local and helping out my community but the goal is to inspire players all around the world and connect with better coaches so we can keep on developing our academy.
