We recently connected with Carlos Spencer and have shared our conversation below.
Carlos , appreciate you joining us today. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
Always be patient, but when the time is right, assert yourself without hesitation. Before photography/videography, I worked in the restaurant industry as a server, a bartender, a kitchen grill master, (you name it!) and I’ve always had to show patience when it comes to preparation of things for our guest and move quickly to prove them when they were ready. I apply those same attributes to my work with people in everything I do, especially when I have people behind the lens. I use my experience in customer service to try to help my models and customers vision come to light while having fun doing it. And as I continue to grow my brand and business, I patiently push through the hurdles that come along and wait for my to achieve the goals I set for the long haul!!

Carlos , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I was in college, I aspired to be a model/photographer but couldn’t afford to take the endeavor seriously, so I played around with it as a hobby. After a while, life hit me and it was time to work so I put the camera down and focused on adulting but the dream never faded. I would constantly listen to different varieties of music and daydream about how a music video or a movie scene would transpire, After enough “what ifs” I decided to try a few “why nots”, and found a new love for the craft, when I decided to focus more on what I wanted to see. Now my daydreams are becoming reality…
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Sometimes the dreams that think are leading you to your goals, are distracting you from your destiny. I remember a time where I felt like doing certain things would be an achievable goal for me and then the harsh realities that followed, put me in a slight slump. I had this 20 year plan, and after I hit a wall in my pursuit, I started treating the wall as my boundary and not an obstacle to my goal. But it was just that, and it showed me what I’m truly capable of and that some goals are actually more short sighted than you originally assumed, so I kept pushing towards bigger goals, and the dreams I had originally, became small branches to a larger tree of my legacy.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Word of Mouth and Social Media have been my greatest allies. I try to use other revenues to gain customers but most times when a customer or someone they know see what I have done for others, it draws them in. Its a blessing that I don’t let go unappreciated.
