CARLOS, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Your ability to build a team is often a key determinant of your success as a business owner and so we’d love to get a conversation going with successful entrepreneurs like yourself around what your recruiting process was like -especially early on. How did you build your team?

This toothpaste formula is made from all-natural, 100% organic ingredients. No additives, no preservatives. It was designed to provide our family with a safe alternative and keep as many potentially harmful chemicals out of their lives. I am a farmer. I make a living off farming, but as suspected, farming has down seasons when crops are not plentiful, animals are not full grown and ready for marketing. To offset the lean times, I started selling toothpaste alongside the farm products to provide for my home. Shortly after that, the clutch went out in a brand new tractor and it cost a significant amount to get it repaired. Nevertheless, we did adn thought things were good to go, until the clutch malfunctioned again just 5months later and I could not afford to repair it. I was pressed to make toothpaste exclusively and during that time, my and friend surfaced and this enterprise began forming. Much like the product it is, it all happened organically.

This is one thing I have learned about business and any team effort, it has to happen organically and everyone must be willing to do their share without complaining or getting discouraged. Just keep going and keep producing. Things will happen in the right time, when it’s the right season

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Yes. Again, I am a farmer. I wanted to add chickens to our farm but needed a coup to house them from predators and the weather. My son Levi and I got to work, drew up some plans, and went to Home Depot to get all the supplies. Levi is 8, but he was a good helper while we were building and it gave me time to teach him valuable life lessons. The project came to just under $10,000 once it was done and proved to be a very sturdy-looking building.

About a week after we finished, a big storm came through and blew a tree over on the chicken house. It was gone. Flattened beyond restoration and to be totally honest with you, my hopes were scattered in with the debris. Probably one of the most hurtful times I can remember as of recent, but my son doesn’t know disappointment the way we adults do. He and I were sifting through the rubbish, kicking around relatively new-looking pieces of what were now scraps for the most part. Then he ask me, “dad what’s wrong?” I replied, “it’s all gone son. It’s nothing left here after all that work we did.” Without hesitation, in all his youthful jubilance he answered, “we just build it again.”

While I’m downhearted, concerned about what it cost and the time lost, this kid only saw one thing. Just build it again. I thought on it, chuckled a little within myself and said, “you damn right son. We build it again.” That’s all this toothpaste business has been. We have a formula that can be the leading contender, outperforming all the top brands in both affordability and efficacy. Doors get slammed in our face. Money gets low. People laugh at us. Dentist scoff and prettt much tell us this will never work. No matter what tree of opposition falls on our aspiration to be the leading all-natural oil-pulling toothpaste in the world, we keep building and building again. Me? I thank GOD Levi was there to make me focus and help develop the resilience something like this requires. It is going to work. GOD cannot fail. This is going ot work

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

We are the intial capital. I wish I had a story for this but we sell an eBook online that tells all about oral health, oil-pulling, and bad breath in an effort to fund the business. My brother works an overnight job and we do our best to hold things together. We do not have the clients or the capital we need in place yet, but farming taught me the importance of patience. Except you wait on the harvest patiently, you can never eat the fruit of the land. When enough people find out about this product, it will happen. This will work. it is going to work and Sheer Alternatives will be a household name.
