We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carlos Mesber a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carlos, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I was an actor in soap operas, but after a situation on a telenovela set, I decided to change course and become a producer. I created some pilot programs and ventured to MIPTV in Cannes, France, to meet industry peers and sell my shows. I succeeded in selling them in Romania. From that moment on, my story changed. I am the creator of my path. That’s why I later wrote a book titled “The Script of Your Life is Written by You.” Today, I live in love and find happiness in helping others to have their self-esteem where it should be, relying on self-love to achieve everything in life.
Carlos, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Carlos Mesber, born in San Juan de los Morros, Venezuela, has earned his merits as an actor and producer, leading him to become a citizen of the United States of America. He has overcome every barrier to achieve his goals. He began his acting studies at the Luz Columba acting training center in Caracas, while also exploring the television world by doing extras and background characters. After seven years of study, he started working full-time at Venevision, one of Venezuela’s most important TV channels, playing roles in telenovelas like “Kaina,” “Peligrosa,” “Como tú ninguna,” “Quirpa de tres mujeres,” and “Todo por tu amor.” He took a three-year break from the media to finish his studies in Dentistry, English, and Italian. In 2001, he moved to the United States (Miami) and returned to the small screen in the telenovela “Secreto de amor,” playing a comedic character, “El turco Alfonso.” He then portrayed a villainous peasant in the successful telenovela “Gata Salvaje,” which earned him the Palmas de Oro award as the best international actor abroad. Subsequently, he appeared in “Inocente de ti” for Televisa, made his mark in Telemundo by starring in several episodes of the series “Decisiones,” and played the villain “Gerardo Aguilar” in the telenovela “Tierra de Pasiones.” He then ventured behind the camera, producing various shows, notably his cooking show as Chef host: “Sabrosa pasión,” which was sold in 42 countries across different continents.
An actor, dentist, and chef, among other roles, he did Public Relations for many famous Latinos for several years in Miami with his company Mesber Agency, Inc. He was the Director and Founder of the Dominican Film Festival in Miami. He starred in the successful play “Descarados” in Miami alongside a professional and renowned group of actors. In 2008, he was invited to play a leading role in the Dominican film “Al fin y al cabo.” In 2009, he co-founded the TV production company High Hill Entertainment, where he currently works as an Executive in charge of new business development and Producer. He has created and produced shows that have been successful internationally in more than 30 countries around the world: “Confesiones de novela,” “Ranking de las estrellas,” “Misterio’s,” “chef Michy,” “la chispa de chef Carmen,” “El Cabaret,” “Brilla por ti,” “Sin Filtro,” “Suelta la sopa,” a daily entertainment news program from Telemundo/NBC, among others. He wrote his first movie script, which has received 9 awards at screenplay festivals, some approved by the Academy, and is currently in pre-production.
He opened his own company titled We Love Entertainment, through which he produces significant television programs for TelevisaUnivision and NBCUniversal.
He studied ontological coaching at the prestigious academy of Tony Robbins, released his first book, and conducts seminars to help people find their mission in life and be authentically happy.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Yes When the show I was doing ended after 8 years on national and international television, everyone took it as the end of the world. I took a breath and was thankful for what was happening, giving way to a new and wonderful beginning.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve had to reprogram my beliefs to achieve absolute happiness by loving myself one hundred percent. I live in love and have my self-esteem in the right place, thanks to unlearning beliefs acquired in childhood and adolescence and learning new ones.
