We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carlos Cabrera. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carlos below.
Carlos, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I started making music around 20/21 years old. I was attending UNT, getting my degree in business marketing and decided I wanted to pursue music as a career during my junior year. I felt like I was already behind, with music production there is a huge learning curve. Starting sooner would have given me an advantage, as I was attending a university with thousands of people my age. I spent my last two years in college learning the basics, when I wasn’t yet comfortable or confident in my craft. Being able to network and advertise my music there would have had a larger impact at the beginning of my career. Looking back, I would have definitely started sooner.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was always fascinated by music and musical instruments growing up. I attempted learning guitar, joined choir, participated in band, but none really stuck with me. I dove into mixing tracks and creating playlists, which led to me downloading Ableton, a digital audio work station. There, I could create and produce my own beats and songs, which was put to use when I met the first artists to rap over my beats. From that point, I used the songs I produced to network and ended up meeting more artists who took a liking to my sound.
Now that I am established in my position I provide beats of all genres to artists. I also create loops for other music producers. I provide recording and mixing and mastering services for artists as well.
I think what sets me apart is my sound and my dedication to always improve my craft. Im always looking for ways to get better.
It has been quite the journey but I am really proud of the progress I have made in learning how to produce and finding a sound that represents me. I believe I have done a really good job establishing myself as a music producer.
Some of the things that I would like for everyone to know is that music is a top priority in my life. I have fun but I also take it serious. When I work with someone I always make sure to stay organized and focus on what we are trying to accomplish. At the end of the day I want to put out the best work possible.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society and their reaction can ultimately make or break artists and creatives. There are many ways to support up and coming artists, and they need that support more than anything. Sharing/streaming content, reposting, attending local shows, buying merchandise, and actively engaging with artiss on social media by watching their lives or commenting on their posts to show support are some of the most helpful things individuals can do.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is a huge stigma around pursuing your dreams; people find it to be unreasonable or not profitable in todays world. Society says that to pursue your dreams you must have an established 9-5 first. Many believe that if you are not rich or famous, being in the music industry can only ever be a side hustle. One of my main goals in my creative journey is to show that this ideology isn’t always true, that you can provide for yourself while loving what you do.
