We were lucky to catch up with Carlos Abrahams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Carlos, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
My biggest risk to date was quitting my 6 figure job to sell plates full time and work towards my goal of having my own restaurant. My family and I moved to Charlotte in 2019 from New Bern, NC. I was based in the area while I was in the Marine Corps, shortly after getting out of the military I got in into selling cars for a few years and eventually got the opportunity to be a manager at a local Honda dealer. I used the customer service skills i learned from that industry and transferred that to my business which helped our current growth. I decided to take the risk because my wife supported me to follow my passion of cooking. As of now to this date my company is tracking to do over 700k for 2023 and we are only open 3 days a week. 2022 we did almost 300k so we are constantly growing rapidly! I would say taking the risk and following my dream has turned out great so far and I couldn’t have done it without the support I had!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the food industry because I love cooking and I grew up watching my mom cook. We solve hunger problems lol, we give great portions so are customers leave full and happy. We are known for our oxtail but what sets us apart is we are very creative when it come to infusing my culture and background with others, some menu items we’ve done that have went viral are, oxtail cheesesteak, oxtail fried rice, oxtail mac & cheese eggroll, just to name a few. I’m most proud of being able to provide for my family and create a lifestyle for my children that I never had at their age. I’m also proud to employee 5 people who are well compensated, I’m able to pass on the blessings God had given me by increasing my business. I want people to know this wasn’t easy but it’s worth it and when you’re in business it’s important to show the people that support your business that you care!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social by being consistent with my content, posting REELS and pics all the time. I also know that people e eat with their eyes first so making the food look appealing online will draw people in.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I funded my business by driving around the city and selling plates from my car.. from there I used those funds to pay the lease deposit on a commercial kitchen space in the city.
