We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carl Posadas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carl below.
Alright, Carl thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful projects my team and I are currently working on is our 2 year anniversary for our Wind Down day party and market (Happening October 29th XD). I first started this party two years ago and had no idea that I would be able to grow this brand/party (with the help of my amazing team) to what it is now.
Not being from San Diego, in the beginning I really struggled building a community of people that just enjoyed listening to good music and having a good time. But as time progressed, I was able to create an amazing team of individuals who were all able to contribute in different aspects and we were able to build this party from the ground up. Majority of the team aren’t locals from San Diego, so being able to create a space where everyone comes out knowing they’re going to have a good time is really meaningful to us.
We really put in a lot of work to make sure that every person that comes to a Wind Down feels welcomed, and to know that we are coming up on doing this for 2 years now is an amazing feeling. Especially when we were put in a position earlier this year where we potentially could have lost our party if it didn’t do as well. I’m so extremely grateful for my team and that is why working on our 2 year anniversary party (happening on October 29th XD) is the most meaningful project we’re working on.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Carl Posadas, but my DJ name is Cari. I’m the founder/DJ of the parties Wind Down and Wind Up and Park & Rec in University Heights! I’m originally from Farifield, California and moved out to San Diego in 2020 with my amazing girlfriend, Cydney. During the pandemic, I would play music on a streaming website Twitch, and that is where I met a lot of amazing people and DJs all over the world. From there I met some weirdo named Kuya Rols and he asked me to be apart of his DJ collective Cuffin, an All Thangs RnB Party also thrown at Park & Rec.
From there I was able to create Wind Down which is typically held on the 4th Sunday of the month along with Wind Up which is on the 1st Friday of the month. Wind Down and Wind Up are very similar, yet very different type of parties. Our Wind Down hosts a small market, which consists of local vendors from San Diego ranging from food, desserts, jewelry, candles, vintage and so much more! It is very much backyard BBQ vibes for Wind Down and it is a really good time. We’ve had local artists come out and perform some of their new music and we hope to have some live music in the future. As compared to Wind Up it is a little bit more upbeat, the best way I would describe it is a a club in Gaslamp without having to deal with Gaslamp crowds lol.
Along with the parties that we throw, we also DJ for other events! Weddings, private parties, corporate events, etc. If you are looking for a DJ that knows how to keep a party going, contact us!
The main thing I want people to remember when they come to a Wind Down or Wind Up party is just the pure enjoyment they had. Whether it is from the music, the vendors, or the company they are with, we just want people to have a good time.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For me, when I first started Wind Down I was doing things on my own and didn’t feel the need to create a team to help. I wish I knew earlier how much easier life would have been organizing and planning events, when you have a team behind you. I have an incredible team that consists of amazing individuals: Cydney, Ronnel, Lee, Juls, Angela, Aurelio, and our amazing emotional support team mascot Akeela (our dog). Everyone has specific roles to the team, whether it’s photography, social media, logistics, communications, and DJ’ing. We all have a common goal of just creating a fun event and I wish I used these resources sooner because if I did, who knows where we would be by now!

How did you build your audience on social media?
We were able to build an audience on social media through our amazing social media team, consisting of the amazing Cydney, Angela, and Juls. They do their best making sure that at every event they capture moments that we can later share on our social media. I wouldn’t say we have the biggest audience on social media, but I do believe we are in the path of growing in a very organic way. Our social media team is very diligent on making sure we have content to post every week, recap videos after every event and creating relevant memes for fun lol.
Some advice I would have, that I’m sure everyone has already heard, is just to be consistent. Whether its a post every day or every other day, stay consistent with posting so that there will always be eyes on your brand/product/whatever you’re selling. It’s also fun to post memes and make them relevant to your brand, so it shows your audience not everything has to be professional or serious all the time and it makes your brand more relatable.
