We were lucky to catch up with Carissa Woo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Carissa , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m Carissa, LA’s pops-of-color wedding photographer, author, 5-star podcaster, and…
…hopefully your soon-to-be coach and dedicated service provider 😊😊😊
I was voted best photographer 2 years in a row and have helped other wedding pros get bigger paydays and change their lives.
And now, I want to do that for you.

Let’s succeed together.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve been active on social media since I was in college in 2005, before instagram was out. I posted every Wednesday and I called it Woo Wednesdays. I gave tips and tricks and share about myself, my journey and my work.
I believe consistency is key. I show up for my audience and it has grown organically.
I love the quote by Tony Robins : When you are feeling stuck, start serving. I have the mentality on social media. Just serve my audience. Speak to myself 3 -5 years ago, every 3 months ago. What would I have liked to know.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When the dark and moody style became very popular, IG was exploding and there were hundreds of new photographers everyday.
I had 8 sales meeting in a row and I got rejected from all of them.
I was at rock bottom and my friends told me to work for another photographer. My parents told me to go back to corporate.
I didn’t listen to them and I got a coach, got advice from people and I became a student again.
I had to grow and get better. I had become stagnant.
I have so much resilience. I have the mindset that you only fail if you give up.
