Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carina Rivera . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I don’t think acting and modeling have a book to follow or a path. Everyone is going to have a different path and learning experience along the way.
Rejection is something that you have to get used to. You are going to get about a million no’s before you get a yes.
I would never in a million years would I every think I would be the only Latina on ABC New Orleans live. I would say only in my dreams.
I just did a movie with Theo Rossi and he was my crush on sons of Anarchy.
I didn’t have a strong IMDB but now that’s my main focus. Directors love to have people with experience on set that is a must.
I am a YouTube from San Diego California and I create content.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I honestly learned a lot from getting scammed, doing a lot of free work just to have a resume. I worked with a lot of brands for pretty much lunch money.
I started a YouTube channel about getting scammed. “ The Brand Ambassador Scam Show” is one of my incomes. I talk about scam websites, reviews and how to get castings.
If you like to talk about that I am your girl. Go subscribe.
I did music videos, promotions, YouTube, music, everything just kinda started going into place.
I moved from San Diego, got less distracted and focused on film. I send in for a lot of castings and my near city and keep booking gigs.
A lot of acting jobs out there. I say experience is what makes you better. No matter how small the job is. I did a lot for my friends for free.
I also have a clothing company www.Ladybossgiftshop.com
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I love being an independent artist, I write music on my down time. I act on the weekends. I don’t like writing music, sometimes I feel it sometimes I don’t. The music industry is who can pay for the charts. I have had big label companies trying to work together to own the music.
I only work on music my friends own, or we have control. I wouldn’t do music for money because I met so many artist. Most of our favorite artist don’t have money. They don’t have control of the art of music.
That will never be me, I make music for fun, and with my friends. I support local artist who make music on the beaches of ob with Dave flavours and kiddsilver any day. We create music from the heart. When our time to shine we will be ready. The industry is a scary game you wanna make sure you have the right people around you.
We get inspired in so many ways, the way life is taking us to the way we feel at our lowest points of life. Those are the songs that come from the heart.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My YouTube story happened as a mistake. I got an email and recorded it and the rest was history.
YouTube is a slow game, you have to be consistent. It’s not something that happens over night. I think a lot of people think they are going to go viral.
It’s like a lottery, you post and it’s a gamble but time is key, posting is key. Working on videos is key. The formula is find out what people want to watch. I never would think I would be getting paid to make YouTube video about scams. But that’s what people want. That’s what people know me as.
I did a news article for NBC and Business Insider, they didn’t give me credit. But we spoke for an hour. And if it creates awareness. That’s my main goal.
Find what people what to watch and keep repeating it. YouTube might sound like a dream job. But you can never stop posting.
