Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Caribe Groove . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Caribe , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
We believe that being an artist and being creative should be a joint and complementary task; however, we understand the dynamics that make it possible for some to live fully from music, without this meaning living for music, it is there where, by way of reflection, we ask ourselves about the value we give to what we create, especially for that it is in general the public and the followers of certain musical genres, who determine this balance. We would love to be able to dedicate 100% of our lives to music, however the situation of each member of the group puts us in front of some variables, such as: family, time, etc. However, we firmly believe that even with all the variables, sometimes in favor, and sometimes against, what should be preponderant is to ask ourselves if the musicians and bands in general, are acting together as a union to avoid devaluing our creative process.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Caribe Groove, a band from Jacksonville FL created in 2017. The members are originally from different countries: Colombia, Venezuela,Republica Dominicana and Puerto Rico. The band consists of: Mariangel Rosales (bass-guitar and Lead Vocalist), Awilda Quezada, (Lead Vocalist), James Torres (Guitar), Andrés Guzmán (Drums). The band’s music gets its influence from a wide variety of modern genres including: Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, combined with traditional Latin genres including Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Latin Jazz, and Afro-Latin rhythms.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Thank you for your question, we believe it is very pertinent to describe what we feel and what we want them to feel, the people our music reaches, our main objective is to be happy in all our creative process, that means: to enable joy, tenderness, and love in everything we do, as tools to reach the hearts of others, the rest of the things that adorn the current entertainment market and its demands, should be secondary, monetize love, sadness and affection in general should question us, as actors in the cultural transformation of our society.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
We have pleasantly witnessed in recent years how locally, the genre we work with (Latin) has grown and gained strength in North Florida; We want to clarify that we are not the pioneers, much less the standard-bearers of our genre, however we understand that to validate our proposal, we must understand that in our guild there is also a wide variety of different proposals in the context of what it means to approach the rich universe of Latin music and culture. Here in our city, there are very interesting musical projects that account for that richness that we talked about earlier, some of them are: LPT, Elizabeth Morquecho, Lisi and Alex, Los Pinedas, Mauren Delgado, Arqui Alex, El Santy, Mandalla, and Baba Caimán among others, who in their own way interpret the feeling of the Caribbean and Latin America in Florida.
