We were lucky to catch up with Caren Osten recently and have shared our conversation below.
Caren, appreciate you joining us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Fast forward to decades of writing and editing, and in 2015 I became certified as a positive psychology coach and in 2018 as a meditation teacher. My own characteristics of curiosity, perseverance, awareness of the present moment, connection and authenticity have propelled me throughout my career of which I am proud.
As a coach, I use tools that are grounded in positive psychology—the scientific study of human flourishing—to help my clients navigate change, work through challenges. and learn skills, such as gratitude, self-compassion, prioritizing positivity and mindfulness, to bring a greater sense of wellbeing and happiness to their daily lives. My coaching style is interactive and authentic, and I pride myself on being a good listener, asking thoughtful questions, and engaging clients to recognize their character strengths and build from there.
As a meditation teacher for the online studio, Pause to be Present, I am grateful to have the opportunity to share the wisdom of both practical and spiritual sources to help students ground themselves in the practice of mindfulness meditation, both on and off the cushion.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a coach, I often talk about resilience, reminding clients that it’s not about if you’ll fall, but when you’ll fall. Once you get up, and find the way to step forward, you will always remember that you have gotten back up, and the next time you fall, you will do so again.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The best advice I could give is to use the variety of social media outlets now available (FB, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc) to tap into as many connections and sources that are willing to spread and share your business-related posts. If you can get quoted for an article on a website, that’s also a great way to spread knowledge about your brand. It’s not easy to do, but if you read a piece that relates to your business, try reaching out to the writer and let them know you’d love to be a source for any future article.
