We were lucky to catch up with Cardsy B recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cardsy, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
When I first stepped into wellness and felt so “on-purpose” doing one on one readings, hosting my podcast Hex and The City and writing I sometimes thought, “wow, I wish I had stared this way sooner.”
But I’ve also realized that every part of our journey plays an important. The work I did as a fashion executive and designing for brands like NIKE, DKNY, and Playboy taught me so much about branding, marketing and running the logistics of my own business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
A self proclaimed “Fashion b*tch turned wellness witch” I had the seemingly perfect Manhattan Manhattan, landing high-level fashion jobs, celebrity friends, and even my own lingerie line along the way.
But by age thirty-one, an astrological transit-known as Saturn’s Return-gate-crashed my life, stripping away my self-identity and exposing a battle with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse, just beneath the glossy surface.
As I began to rebuild her life, Cardsy revisited my childhood hobby of pulling tarot cards. In doing so, I reconnected with her intuition in powerful and often unexpected ways. That led me to offering intuitive readings for others, teaching how to read tarot as well as creating my own tarot deck, The Bada*s B*tches Tarot. In 2019 I launched my podcast Hex and the City and wrote The Saturn Diaries a Modern Day Grimoire last year.
The Saturn Diaries is the compelling record of my journey, involving everything, from a homemade Oprah-ator phone created to dial the universe to a solo trek through the Costa Rican Jungle to participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony.
Part memoir and part spellbook, each chapter features a spell, elixir, or ritual. The Saturn Diaries – intensely moving and often hilarious – chronicles discovery and remembrance. It reveals the magic that occurs when you acknowledge the seeker within and begin listening to your own inner guidance system.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had placed more value and respect on my intuition and our ability to connect w our inner guidance system.
I feel this is something that is so natural to access as children and many of slowly shut it down due to societal pressures as we age.
Tapping back into my intuition is what led me into successfully creating my own business and to deeply fulfilling work and relationships.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is a fantastic anonymous quote I love: “Sometimes we’re called to heal loudly, so others don’t suffer in silence.”
That was the driving force behind sharing my story of addiction, depression and loss so vulnerably in writing my book. This also drives me to share as many healing tools and guidance as possible through my writing and social media.
