We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cara Ivana a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

For as long as I can remember, I yearned to discover my calling, that one thing I should dedicate my time and energy to. I often met people who seemed to have it all figured out, but for me, it always felt just out of reach.

Astrology always intrigued me growing up, but my knowledge was limited to the sun sign horoscopes you’d find in magazines. That changed about six years ago when I had my first professional astrology reading. It was a profound, life-altering experience. The reading felt like an in-depth exploration of my entire being, and I was absolutely mesmerized.

From that moment on, I threw myself into the study of astrology with full force. By the end of my first year of intense study, I was doing readings for friends and family, honing my skills and deepening my understanding.

At the time, I worked in digital marketing, and it was always at the back of my mind that I should leverage my expertise to start my own business. Yet, like many, I often undervalued my experience and expertise, convincing myself that “one day” I’d take the leap.

That “one day” came when I was least expecting it. A dear friend of mine, who runs a makers market in Boulder, CO, was one of the people I regularly did readings for. One day, she called and asked if I wanted to join her next market. It was the push I needed.

I spent the following days and weeks setting up the essentials. I registered Ivana Astrology as a business, set up a business bank account, and built a website, www.ivanaastrology.com, to serve as the cornerstone of my business. My background in digital marketing was invaluable here; I knew exactly how to design a user-friendly site and optimize it for SEO.

I also began creating high-quality content for my blog and social media platforms, sharing insightful posts about various astrological topics. This not only helped attract a dedicated audience but also established me as an authority in the field.

Networking played a crucial role in those early stages. I participated in online forums, collaborated frequently with my teacher, and soaked in the tactics used by other influencers.

Each day was a learning experience, filled with new challenges and achievements. From mastering SEO techniques to managing client inquiries, every step brought me closer to turning my dream into reality. The foundation of Ivana Astrology is now solid. I feel proud to have birthed a business where individuals can unlock their personal blueprints and navigate life’s transitions with confidence and clarity.

Looking back, the journey from idea to execution was a blend of passion, dedication, and strategic planning. Finding my calling wasn’t just about discovering astrology; it was about realizing my potential and taking actionable steps to bring my vision to life.

I’m Cara Ivana, the owner of Ivana Astrology, a platform dedicated to empowering individuals through the transformative power of astrology. My journey into astrology began six years ago with a life-altering professional reading that ignited my passion for this ancient practice.

Leveraging my background in digital marketing, I built Ivana Astrology to offer personalized astrological readings, insightful blog content, and practical guidance on navigating life’s transitions. What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The hardest lesson I had to unlearn was caring about judgment from others. Growing up in an environment that emphasized judgment and shame, putting myself out there always felt foreign and wrong.

As I entered my 30s, I realized it was on me to heal that part of myself. I asked myself whether I would be more regretful of putting myself out there and failing, or of never really trying. Despite my background in digital marketing, I had never maintained much of a social media persona, so showcasing myself was new and daunting. I had to let go of that fear and lean into my studies and experience.

Now, every time I meet with a new client and witness their awe and wonder as they explore their birth charts and the transiting energy of the planets, I know I’m on the right path.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

As someone with extensive experience in digital marketing, I knew that social media would be a tricky yet crucial element for my business. Although Ivana Astrology is still relatively new, I understand that social media is key to my future success. I began by studying each platform and conducting competitor research to identify what performs best. For instance, on Instagram, I found that a 7-second looping reel with a captivating hook and bulleted information in the caption can significantly boost engagement, as the video loops several times while viewers read the content.

While these tips and tricks are useful, the real non-negotiable key is to define your niche and create content that provides value. Experiment with different formats and delivery methods, collect data, A/B test, and continually refine your strategy. For example, early on, I created a video about how to manifest on the new moon. Despite having only 200 followers at the time, the video reached 36k views, demonstrating the power of valuable content and the importance of engaging with your niche audience.
