We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cara Chadwick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
It’s hard to pick just one. Every commission I do for a client of a pet or special horse is an amazing and meaningful experience. To create a likeness of a distinct personality is so rewarding, I know I have nailed it when the client cries! They feel that subjects essence.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a lifelong equestrian and artist. I started drawing and painting as a child and it’s just continued on to become part of my career. Being a horse lover and rider my whole life gives me a deep understanding of them and allows me to bring that connection to each piece I create.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s about connection. I love getting know my clients and building a relationship. I have many who I have done multiple pieces for. I love being able to create something that is so meaningful to them by painting a beloved pet or horse.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I just want to be the best I can be. To never stop improving and learning. I love finding new inspiration, new waves of creativity and themes for my work. It’s an ever changing process.
