We were lucky to catch up with Canes Etienne recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Canes, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is to use photography as a light to shine upon those who want to create memorable moments that can last a life time for generations to come. Also, my mission is to use my talents to put out more opportunities for those who want to create but have no where to start within the small communities around me.

Canes, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Greetings beautiful people!
My name is Canes Etienne and I am a couple & lifestyle photographer, currently residing in South Florida where I was born & raised. Some major interests of mine are basketball, football, technology, and cars.
Growing up as a young Haitian-American man has had its ups and downs but by the grace of God and his blessings, I am where I am today.
My passion for photography was always hidden within, but was later revealed when I started to create short videos and execute mini shooting sessions on my iPhone 11 Pro; watching and studying the work of great photographers such as Photos by Reem, Loui Photos, Clutchshotz, and Talilly Photography.
Reasons, why I love photography, are being able to bring or be given a vision and turn it into reality with my own little flavor and capturing memorable moments.
My fiancé and sister, who are two of my greatest supporters, saw the passion behind my craft and on my 25th birthday, my fiancé made the move to put her personal investment on hold to invest in me and purchase my first camera: a DSLR Canon 6D Mark II. Since then, I’ve “hit the ground running.” Months later, Candid Photography by Canes was established.
I look forward to capturing your candid moments,
making a great impact in the Haitian community and helping bring your visions to life!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One thing that I had to unlearn was “a jack of all trades master of none” and the reason for unlearning it is because realistically, I am a person of many talents both natural and learned. Why should I limit myself to just one thing that I love when I have so many God given gifts and talents that is apart of my destiny. It is definitely possible to be a master in multiple areas and I desire to leave a legacy for my children’s children to uphold and extend with their own gifts to give other’s opportunities.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
From the time that Candid Photography by Cane was established up until early 2022, I was a full time student, working a full time
job, building a name for my business, and balancing family responsibilities. Despite being stretched in different directions, I still had to find the time to pour into my craft. By the grace of God, my determination has fueled my passion and helped Candid Photography become what it is today!
