We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Candy Dillon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Candy below.
Candy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think being an entrepreneur is a risk in its self. My husband, Lorenzo is always the one pushing me to just “Do it !” I have second guessed myself so many times and pushed back so many dates. I’m not at my point where if I don’t take the risk on myself, why should others believe it. I have to get on the pot and make it happen, or get off and watch others make it and climb that success ladder. I know there are stylist all over the world, but I knew there was a special spot for my type of styling and craziness. I am looking to take the risk and get out there to some investors. I also am about to launch my YouTube podcast that will cover these “special “ styling topics as well as the awesome differences in life, love, sports, you name it (lmbo)! There is no better time then now for me , I’ve worked hard helping others create success and make their dreams happen and now it’s my turn.
Candy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Candy Dillon owner and creator of A’ron Monroe B&P Experience. I am an unusual alter ego stylist and creator. I basically create a world for those spouses , single, divorced, in a partnership style women who want to experience what is down their rabbit hole of taboo and give them the night, weekend of their creative life through coaching and creation. They can be whomever they want with their loved one . They can also create another “them” for confidence, fun, bachelorette parties, whatever they want. Maybe you want your sexy back before the kids…let us create “Her!” If you want to learn a sexy dance for your parties, night out, I can create that too. Be an “alter ego!”
I’m so proud that I can help women feel great, better, good , or whom they have always been.
I want people to know that nothing is taboo and you can have and be it all, on any day !
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding this type of business isn’t the easiest, but I didn’t do it alone. I started off with a small apparel option and just 1 or 2 alter ego style packages. My husband and I had a small budget to get me started and out there for people to start to here my name. I bought maybe 50 pieces and created only 2 small packages with a lingerie piece and skit. There was still licensing and making sure I had things set for copyright and legalities if needed. I also make sure that I have unique marketing in place because social media is everything.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is the hardest thing where most think it’s the easiest. I think that things are constantly changing online. If you don’t keep up with the times, or the changes as fast as they are happening, you will become boring to your audience. Consistently posting is what I’ve learned is the key to be relevant and keeping in the “watch zone.” I’ve always remembered that you have to post even when you don’t want to because you may have family things going on, life happening, but you have to do it and people see that you’re passionate about what you do. That’s how you gain customers and followers!
