We recently connected with Candice Zinner and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Candice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
I didn’t graduate high school and I didn’t go to college. I got my GED, learned on the job, read self-help books, and took courses through the library online. I was a young mother at 19 with no passion for a career. I worked dead-end jobs, but was always willing to learn every detail/aspect of the job so I could perform at the highest level.
I found a job I cared for and wanted to make a future in working with adults with developmental disabilities. I worked hard, got myself trained on everything, and I was always willing to learn and do more. I would help coworkers who had their bachelor and master degrees in many aspects of their job. I held the same position but with less pay, due to not having an advanced degree. After being offered a few other non-degree jobs and still not getting the pay I was worth, I decided I needed to be my own boss. I needed to work hard for myself and stop giving the dedication and loyalty to someone who didn’t know my worth.
I do understand a degree is important and is oftentimes a necessary requirement to a profession, but traditional schooling didn’t come easy to me. I shine with on the job training and skill building on my specific passions.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I suffer from allergies and I found Halo Therapy while searching for alternatives for allergy relief. My husband and I started visiting salt rooms, caves, and booths whenever we were out of town. It was our moment of relaxation and detoxification. Salt therapy was still very new and unheard of, so we started researching and found that it is a practice that has been used in Europe for hundreds of years. We are the first & still maybe the only salt cave that has a Graduation Tower in Ohio. The Graduation Tower concept comes from the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland. We use a salt brine to disperse salty water down birch branches creating a salt aerosol climate in the cave. Inhalations at the graduation tower are recommended for people suffering from recurring and chronic ailments of the respiratory system. Thus, patients with rhinitis, sinusitis, laryngitis and during the period of post-therapy of acute infections of the respiratory system will feel a relief. The brine aerosol also helps people to remove mucus during such ailments as, for instance, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma.
We have Reiki, facials and relaxation massage offered by woman who rent out space at Salty.
$40 per person Salt Cave
$40 per person Infrared Sauna
$40 per person Ionic Foot detox

We just want to show people how to take a break from everyday hustle and put down the electronics and breathe.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I love this quote “Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to.” Richard Branson
I like to show my appreciation to my team whenever I can, whether it be a verbal praise or a raise. I feel that people like to know they are doing a great job. I give little gifts, buy coffee or lunches, and give them training and tasks to build up their experience and resume.
I sprinkle in team self-care/retreat days as well. I try to treat my team as if they were a part of my extended family. Maintaining a high work ethic/standards and having fun is very important. I work side by side with my team and don’t ever ask them to do something I wouldn’t or haven’t done. I strive to be the leader I would want to work for.
