We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candice White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Candice, appreciate you joining us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is Keybe_Writes. I call her my shero. I have never encountered another person on this earth that is like her. She is beauty, grace, love, respect, and forgettable all in one. She carries herself like a queen with everything she does. She truly is a phenomenal woman. I’ve always admired how she handles disappointments and how successful she is. To this day there are things she’s taught me that I wish I would have listened to the first time instead of learning the hard way. She’s taught me that believing in myself is important and the choices I make are 100% my responsibility rather I like it or not. She puts the A in ACCOUNTABILITY! Keybe_writes is a huge part of my life and she is responsible for the woman that I’m becoming. She holds my hand through every circumstance and she speaks from a place of love all the time. I can’t think of a moment where she ever judged my choices. When I speak to her I’m completely free and I love it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a native of Maryland. In 2015 I had to start over because my world was flipped upside down. I made a vow to never allow anyone else to tell my story. I share my good and bad experiences with my platform because I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve ever done. I started Candi Coated Secrets Talk Show in July of 2018. I wanted to create a safe space for people to speak freely, ask questions, give advice and share their personal experiences. That’s when I decided to create my private Facebook group that’s associated with my talk show. I wanted people to know that they weren’t alone even if they might feel they are. What sets me apart from everyone is I’m 100% transparent and I can be myself. I have been this way my entire life so it comes effortlessly. There are lots of people on social media that aren’t able to be themselves because they fear or care about what other people say, think, and feel. I on the other hand learned that when others have something to say it’s usually a projection of how they feel about themselves and has nothing to do with me. You know some people are just mad for no reason or they aren’t happy about their own life and need a punching bag sometimes. I refuse to be someone else’s punching bag. I say it all the time “Something” is what people will always have to say. I know who I am at the core of my being and that is what I want to help others realize. Once you start to understand that concept anything opposite of that is irrelevant. I am most proud of myself! I had no idea how to run or even start a talk show and I have been doing pretty good for 4 1/2 years now. I’m a big procrastinator and I lack consistency. However, Candi Coated Secrets is the first idea I ever stuck with and on days I don’t feel my best I keep going. I am most proud of being able to assist other people with their journey and hold their hands through the rough times just like Keybe_writes has done for me. I am a certified Law of Attraction coach and I’m super excited about that because that makes my heart sing. I get so much joy from the stories my clients and members tell me while they are on their path to discovering how wonderful life is when you are in control of it. The world is so big and full of possibilities you have to go and create the life you want. I want people to look at me and say I can do it too. Become inspired and if you need assistance reach out to me that’s what I’m here for.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Geesh, where do I begin I’ve had many lessons I had to unlearn. Being in the entertainment industry you will meet so many opportunists or people that want to latch onto you for their benefit. With me what you see is what you get every single time. You never have to guess or assume because I’m very expressive hints as to why I have a talk show. I worked with a few people and for personal differences, the business relationships ended. I can separate personal and business from one another and I learned everyone couldn’t do that. My business always comes first. When everything came to an end they tried to get reactions from me by doing certain things. I have seen them use my ideas on their platform or make a subliminal post about me. What was weirder to me was I’m not super famous yet and certain things were happening. However, I smiled and thanked God for using me to inspire other people. Sometimes I say “Momma is proud” lol that’s an insider joke I have with myself. Instead of being upset about it, I turned it into a positive. I’ve even experienced people that would watch my show to find a way to approach me. My platform is relationship based. Which isn’t just for intimate relationships but all relationships. Friends, family, work, business, etc. I’m open with my followers so I would share my experience at the time with them and that would cause an issue too. It’s like they would forget what and how I started my platform. We would be here all day if I shared everything lol. But overall I learned from my previous experiences. It made me ask for better discernment and to spot the red flags a mile away.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by talking to people everywhere I went. The mall, grocery store, Walmart, McDonald’s, the hair store, bars, the gas station, Sam’s Club you name it I’m always reaping my CCS brand. Online I would send requests, make a post, connect with other businesses, engage with people and pay for advertisements. My advice is to always go with your gut and don’t tell your dreams to people that can’t dream. If someone else can’t see your vision it’s because God didn’t give it to them he gave it to you. I have done things, other people told me not to do and if I would have listened I wouldn’t be where I am today. I have even knocked on people’s doors telling them who I am and leaving my business cards. I started a GoFund Me account for equipment and everyone frowned upon that but I didn’t. I was able to register my business and buy my very first camera. The same ones that will tell you not to do something will not offer or assist in any way. You have to know that no matter what everything will work out and if you are following your dreams you can not allow anyone to distract you from them. Do not give up before the miracle happens.
