We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candice Reid-Bethel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Candice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
A client was referred to me, he had been seeking someone to help him bring his vision of launching a Digital Health and Wellness Magazine and Podcast series.
With a very small budget, I took up the challenge as it presented the opportunity for me to get into Podcasting, which I had wanted to launch since 2021.
We had a consultation and he detailed what he wanted, that is:
Create a Social Media Group to build his audience
Content Creation
Produce and Publish the magazine
Help him get media coverage for the launch of the magazine
This was a dream 2 years old, he connected with persons before me, who never really bought into the vision to efficiently and effectively bring it to life. I was able to achieve all of this for him in 3 months. Now we have even embarked on doing events to educate the public on the importance of making healthy lifestyle decisions not just for them but for their loved ones as well.
I usually work in the background, however, this client insisted when I got confirmation of the TV Interview, that I accompany him not as his VA but as the editor-in-chief of the magazine. Indicating that I was more to him than just a VA. it was a lot of work, but I wanted to show him that investing in hiring a VA can help you achieve goals faster and as stress-free as possible. This is because I am not a “yes” person, I give constructive opinions and advice on how we can knock off all moving elements of the project to achieve the desired outcome realistically.
For me it was a win-win for both the client and myself because magazines are produced by individuals, I did it all on my own and I believe we exceeded the 32-page magazine. Successfully reaching 240000 persons in our country and throughout the Caribbean, with 864 downloads of the magazine at last check. I am well on my way already producing our 2nd quarter issue. He is on cloud nine to sum up his feelings on the success achieved so far.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Candice Reid-Bethel. The name of my Brand is Virtuscope Virtual Assistant Services. I am a Virtual Assistant based in the lovely twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I became a full-time VA on June 1st, 2020 this came about due to my mother being diagnosed with end-stage kidney Failure in December of 2018. At the time I was a permanent employee at Colfire a General Insurance company. I worked there for 9 years and whilst there I attained my AIB Diploma in Management & Bachelor in Business Administration. Like most, I created my services based on my experience and academics. So my core services comprise Social Media Management and Marketing, Executive Administrative support, Voice Over Ads, Podcasting Setup and Management, Event Planning, and PR and Media Relations to help my clients get seen and heard,
I love helping clients bring their dreams to fruition and seeing them excel at what they do. I naturally have a heart of servitude. I was once told at a young age I would be in the category of those not destined to achieve much in life by a school teacher. So I consider myself a late bloomer in life, but I am most proud that I have annihilated that false narrative that was spoken over my life. My brand turns 4 this year, and I have had for the most part positive experiences. My name is calling in rooms I have yet to step into and I have people across the globe reaching out to me desirous of joining my team or to hire my team and I. This little Island girl connecting with people as far as Ireland is amazing.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I would say quality service, networking, continuous learning, consistent branding, and exceptional customer service. All of these combined have contributed to me creating a strong digital footprint and reputation.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I achieve this by employing a Communication Charter, that my VAs or any VA I outsource work to must adhere to. It has helped me to foster positive relationships with our clients, promote collaboration within team Virtuscope, and deliver exceptional service as a virtual assistant.
