We recently connected with Candice McField and have shared our conversation below.
Candice, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
They instilled in my brother and I that we can do anything we set our minds to if we put in the work and dedication.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Absolutely. As an athlete, I was always competitive, and I excelled in basketball and softball in my youth. After college, I spent the next six years working in finance. While there, one of my colleagues invited me to attend a bodybuilding show he was competing in and that’s where I fell in love with figure competition. I began competing in 2005 and the process of transforming my body for competitions fueled my desire to make fitness a permanent part of my life. I learned so much about health, fitness, and myself during that time. Achieving my personal health and fitness goals drove my desire to help others do the same. This burning desire and passion propelled me to take a leap of faith; I made a 180-degree career transition into the health and wellness space.
In 2009, I walked away from finance and launched my first fitness company, all while still competing. In 2010, I secured the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation “Ms. Figure Universe” title after my first-place finish in Barbados. Four years later, Candice McField Fitness was born. All my years of competing—whether in sports or figure—prepared me to walk in my purpose.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Passion + Going the Extra Mile.
I LOVE what I do and I think my passion for helping others constantly shines through. In addition, I try always go the extra mile for clients, for my team and for anyone who needs help. This goes a long way in building a reputation. I think people know I always have THEIR best interest at heart and that speaks volumes.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Two pivot stories.
#1:
I am a numbers person. Math was always an easier subject for me, but naturally I have been an athlete since I was 3 years old. The decision to leave finance, step into the world of health and wellness, and never look back was one of the best decisions I have made. As I walked out of my former employer for the last time, I distinctly remember the quiet voice speaking to me saying, “Candice do not look back.” Fifteen years later I am continuing to only look forward in the health and wellness industry.
Lesson learned: always follow your heart.
#2
The first company I co-created was also in the health and wellness industry. I dedicated five great years and loved how much I learned about business and entrepreneurship. Deciding to walk away was one of the toughest decisions I have ever made, but I knew my calling was taking me in a new direction.
Lesson learned: Don’t be afraid of new directions.
