Alright, Candice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

I started up rose garden pods in January 2022 after sitting on the idea for about 18 months. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do business wise but I new I had had enough of grafting for other people and not having much to show for it.

I had seen the domes during covid and had had a lot of time on my hands after leaving my last job Christmas of 2020.

I left because I was pregnant with my third child and suffered from severe morning sickness. Working became increasing difficult and at four months I weighed 7.5 stone.

I had wanted to become a business owner earlier in my life but didn’t have the finances and wasn’t in the right place or head space to start it up.

In December 2019 my nan passesd away aged 96 and left me some money. At this point I decided to knock the substances on the head and concentrate on living life. I had a new man and a new found confidence.

It felt as everything came together at the right time, I was in my mid/late thirties I had experienced life in all ways and I new the direction in what I wanted to go and the means to do it.

Would.it have worked with a different partner when I was younger, absolutely not. I was immature and didn’t have to right attitude to setup by yourself and certainly not a supportive other half.

So during 2021 I came up with Rose Garden pods with my eldest daughter found the dome i wanted and bought and setup on Facebook and Instagram.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My names candice Jones, I’m 39 years old , married with three children.y eldest rachael is 22 my son finley is 9 and my youngest evelyn-rose is 20 months.

I grew up in solihullwith my mum, dad and younger brother. I have loved in Birmingham from the age of 16 when I left home.

I enjoy making occasions special and creating a unique space for intimate events.

I communicate with my customers about what exactly it is they want ie colour scheme, placing of the domes , timings and everything else.

I share all.setups on social media as they are my avenues of advertising and answer all questions people have.

I would.love to branch out to business or intimate weddings. Having a dome at a restaurant or pub letting people experience it more availably.

Imtimate weddings would be my dream , Boho sheak, elopements or people just wanting something very small.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I started off on Facebook just inviting friends as I was embarrassed at first about putting myself out there. But after three months I had had no interest but believed in what I was doing.

We had set the dome up at home initially for pictures so we some basic content but I knew I need more to gain interest.

The same was done on Instagram but all my business so far has come from Facebook. I have one tomorrow that was from word of mouth.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Facebook for the business, I’m not a massive fan on social media privately but for getting your business out there and starting out its a free service and the audience is huge ! You just have to sive through the nonsense sometimes
