Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Candace Wallace. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Candace, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you as a business owner?

Before I started W2 Marketing, I spent 15 years as a professional makeup artist, makeup educator and salon development for a major beauty company. I travelled all over the United States teaching makeup, they used my talents for New York Fashion Week, Trade shows and more. I literally climbed my way to the top in hopes to be recognized for my talents, tenacity and hard work ethic, Only to be stuck for years in pay scale that no matter what I did, I never got a raise. I never received an actual evaluation by my superiors and when I asked to do so, I was pushed out. It made me realize that sometimes hard work and talent were not enough in the corporate world and I was easily replaced by hungry up and coming artist who would work for free just like I did for years. I left the corporation bitter and depressed by what happened and vowed to never again work for a company that didn’t value me. Fast forward to today, I value myself and try not to let self doubt creep into my heart and head.

I raise my prices when I need to, I charge my worth and I took all my power back by becoming my own boss.
As I grow my company, I strive to set the standard that the JOB is second to everything. Your happiness, your family and your well-being are the most important things to focus on first. We do not have to work 60 hours a week to make it, you can have a work life balance and be successful.

After spending 15 years in the Beauty and Fashion Industry as a professional Makeup Artist, Educator and Salon Developer, I hung up her brushes to pursue my passion in brand development and social media marketing. In 2018 I started freelancing as a branding consultant and social media marketer and three years later during the middle of a pandemic in 2020, I took the leap, along with her husband, to combine their talents and build a business together.

My passion has always been in design, leading teams and evolving businesses to the next level. Along my journey, I have continued my education with industry experts in Facebook, Instagram and Google. I am passionate about getting small businesses back into our communities and creating a work environment that provides balance, happiness and opportunity.
