We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candace Wallace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Candace, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is so different for everyone. I value success based off of my time. I value my time more than anything. I don’t want to be caught up in a 60 hour work week or so stressed at my job that in don’t enjoy what I’m doing. We operate W2 Marketing with 3 people and we are all very active parents. Our family is important and being there for our kids is really important. So success to us is being able to live comfortably and have the time to enjoy it!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
After 15 years of being a professional makeup artist, I decided to pursue another passion, marketing and social media. I began using social media and digital marketing as a business tool when I was working as a makeup artist in Los Angeles building my first Wix website in 2009. My husband is very tech-savvy and taught me how to use the software. Fast forward to 2018 when I decided to leave makeup, I knew I wanted to help build brands, work in social media and help market other small businesses like I had been doing for myself all this time. I started out small having family and friends as my first clients and was only working a few hours a week. Then the pandemic hit, my husband and I bothsaw it as an opportunity to create w2marketing & launch our business together. With his knowledge in coding and mine in marketing, we launched it in July and by 2021 we had over a dozen clients and had hired a few freelancers to help us with the workload. Now in 2022, we are thriving with businesses all around Colorado and the United States! We love what we do and we can’t wait to help other small businesses show up, grow and succeed!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being available to my clients, in our industry, I guess it’s really common for people to just stop responding to their clients. We are always available, we are 100% involved in the planning and marketing of your business!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth. The majority of our clients come from a referral. We do a good job and our clients are happy to send people our way.
