We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candace Owens a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Candace , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve ever worked on… is my own becoming.
In 2016, I nearly lost my life. A severe medical complication left me hospitalized on and off for two months. I came face-to-face with death—and something in me awakened. I realized I wasn’t just meant to survive. I was meant to live fully… and create from the depths of what I survived.
That moment rewrote my story. It gave birth to everything I’ve done since: the poetry, the songs, the books, the shows. Every creation has been a piece of my healing, a piece of my truth.
I used to hide my voice. I dimmed my light. But one day, I heard a quiet message in my spirit:
“Your story isn’t just yours. It’s someone else’s lifeline.”
That message became my mission during Covid I created my company Poetry Pioneer LLC and launched my website.
I turned my pain into poetry. My silence into sound. My stillness into a global invitation. What began as private affirmation journaling eventually became my first book, The New World Light: Poetic Affirmations to Create Heaven on Earth. This book went on to win the 2024 International Impact Book Award for the poetry category. I followed it with a second book pending release, The New World Light: Awakening the Soul Through Poetry—a soul-guided offering for those ready to remember their power.
But the journey didn’t stop with books.. I went and shared my books, poems, and inspiration as a public speaker and author in a local assisted living community.
In partnership with Arts So Wonderful in Vermont, I launched international poetry contests to uplift voices around the world. That partnership also led to one of the most unexpected blessings: my own cable show and podcast, thanks to the belief and support of Bruce Wilson and Town Meeting TV. Through those platforms, I get to hold space for others to share their truth—just as I once longed to.
This isn’t just a project. It’s a resurrection. A remembrance. A living testimony that the things we survive can become the very light that guides others home.
I used to hope I would make an impact.
Now I know…
I am the impact.

Candace , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not be familiar with my work, I’m Candace R. Owens—founder of Poetry Pioneer LLC, award-winning author, AI music creator, and creative visionary blending poetry, purpose, and technology to uplift and inspire on a global scale.
Poetry Pioneer is more than a brand—it’s a movement designed to reconnect people with their inner voice through emotionally resonant storytelling, poetic expression, and innovative digital media. I believe in the power of words to heal, awaken, and transform lives.
What I create and offer:
• Books that inspire, affirm, and elevate. My latest title, The New World Light: Poetic Affirmations to Create Heaven on Earth, is a powerful collection of spiritual and emotional affirmations designed to help readers rise into their truth.
• AI-generated music and video created from my original poetry—offered as high-vibration content that speaks directly to the heart
• A cable show and podcast produced in partnership with Arts So Wonderful and Town Meeting TV in Vermont—featuring creatives, leaders, and changemakers from around the world
• International poetry contests that spotlight new voices, provide global exposure, and help emerging writers get seen and heard
What problems I help solve:
• Helping individuals feel seen, heard, and inspired through meaningful creative work
• Providing a platform for underrepresented and emerging poets and artists
• Creating emotionally intelligent, purpose-driven content in an increasingly noisy digital world
• Blending poetic storytelling with modern tools to reach wider audiences with timeless messages
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating from a place of truth. Every poem, song, contest, and episode is made with purpose—crafted to spark reflection, elevate the spirit, and remind others of what’s possible when we lead with heart.
I’m most proud of the impact this work continues to make—from thousands of people connecting with my music and books, to international contest winners gaining recognition they never imagined. This is not just content—it’s a creative awakening.
Poetry Pioneer stands for more than poetry. It stands for possibility.
And if you’re here, you’re already part of that mission. Www.poetrypioneer.com.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes—there is absolutely a mission driving my creative journey. At its core, my work is about awakening light through language, art, and technology. My goal is to help people remember who they truly are beneath the layers of pain, pressure, and programming.
I believe creativity is one of the most powerful forces on Earth. It’s not just about making something beautiful—it’s about telling the truth in a way that heals, connects, and transforms. That’s why everything I create—whether it’s a book, a poem, a song, a show, or an international contest—is rooted in purpose. I don’t just write to express myself. I write to reach people, to remind them they’re not alone, and to activate something deeper within them.
My mission is especially focused on using words as healing tools—to soften what has been hardened, to speak what has been silenced, and to call forth what has been forgotten. I blend poetry and affirmation with modern technology like AI because I believe the future of healing and communication is frequency-based. Words carry energy. And when aligned with intention, they can shift how we see ourselves and the world around us.
I also know what it means to rise from the ashes—what it feels like to survive something that could have taken you out and still choose to create. So part of my mission is to use my own story as evidence that it’s possible to begin again. That you can go through darkness and still emerge with light. I want my audience—especially those who have been overlooked, underestimated, or unheard—to know that their story is not only valid, but valuable.
Through Poetry Pioneer, I offer creative experiences that bridge the emotional and the digital, the personal and the universal. From award-winning books like The New World Light: Poetic Affirmations to Create Heaven on Earth, to AI-generated music that transforms poems into soundtracks of the soul, to my cable show and podcast in collaboration with Arts So Wonderful and Town Meeting TV—I’m committed to creating content that uplifts, enlightens, and empowers.
What drives me is the belief that we don’t need more noise—we need more meaning. We need work that resonates, content that heals, and stories that shine. I want to be part of that shift.
So yes, I’m creating art—but I’m also creating space.
Space for people to feel. To remember. To rise.
That is the heart of my mission.
And I’m just getting started.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my view, the best way society can support artists and creatives is by recognizing that creativity isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline. It’s how we process truth, imagine new realities, and heal what’s been broken. A thriving creative ecosystem starts with honoring the value of creative work—not just when it’s profitable, but when it’s powerful.
Too often, artists are expected to pour from their soul while being underfunded, overlooked, or told to “be realistic.” But the truth is, creatives are architects of culture. We give voice to the voiceless, beauty to the unseen, and language to the emotions others can’t express. Society thrives when art thrives.
To truly support artists, we need:
• Access to funding and platforms that allow diverse voices to be heard without gatekeeping
• Educational systems that encourage emotional intelligence, storytelling, and innovation—not just standardized output
• Technology tools and training that help artists evolve with the world without losing their authenticity
• Mental health support, because creating from the soul often comes with deep emotional labor
• Cultural shifts that stop treating art as “extra” and start seeing it as essential
We also need to dismantle the idea that success only looks like virality or mass monetization. Some of the most important work in the world is quiet, sacred, and deeply personal. That work deserves protection, respect, and space to grow.
As a society, we should be asking:
Who are the artists telling the stories we need to hear?
What can we do to amplify them—not exploit them?
When we invest in creatives, we invest in imagination, empathy, and expansion. And if we truly want a better future, we’ll need more than policies and profits—we’ll need poetry, vision, music, and meaning.
Support the artist, and you support the awakening of a generation.
