We were lucky to catch up with Candace I steed recently and have shared our conversation below.

Candace , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?

I manage my own social. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned about managing my own social is to be quick, but also have fun. If you don’t enjoy what you create, others won’t either.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I honestly fell into creating content, I’d be on Instagram just talking and people would say “ you really need a Vlog”. I started researching about vlogging and fell in love with it. After the vlogs this app named tiktok was created, some of my friends said that I would do well on the app. I downloaded the app, started making videos and they started going viral.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my audience on social media by being as authentic as possible. I showcased every part of my personality but also the things that I am currently navigating in life. The more I shared, the more my following grew.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

When I began creating content for social media I had no views. I attempted to follow trending sounds and still no views. I joined different classes, read different articles on how to be a successful content creator and still managed no views for the first 3 months . Although I was a little discouraged I kept creating, I kept trying new things and all of sudden it all started paying off.
