We recently connected with Candace Gwynn and have shared our conversation below.
Candace, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
My journey began by speaking with a friend. I was worried that I couldn’t start my own business because I did not have a “trade”. I thought being smart was not enough! From there, I was encouraged that I did have value and something to offer the world. Within 2 weeks, I had a full business. I had purchased my LLC, domain name, created a tagline, had my logo designed, EIN number, business contact info! Literally everything but a website which I was taking a course to learn to do on my own! Next, AI began setting prices, perfecting my business pitch and networking.! Through the help of another great friend, my networking opportunities greatly increased. I landed my first 2 clients by July.

Candace, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After obtaining an Accounting degree, I quickly realized…OOPS, wrong major! NOW WHAT?! My natural ability to manage databases and build relationships led me to Corporate America. After 15+ years in Corporate America, I witnessed overworked managers, high turnover of employees, low morale of departments, and newbies that are hired and forced to sink or swim!
As a result, tasks are left undone, customer service suffers, and talent becomes scarce!
With my experience, I began to challenge myself to find a way to be a solution! This is where my virtual assistant journey began.
I am a System Administrator with a proven track record of enhancing production, streamlining processes, managing resources, and analyzing production goals. I figured these skills should help someone, right?
With my ability to capitalize on interpersonal skills, I solve complex operational and financial issues while being fluent in time management, results orientation, risk management, and team building.
I’m passionate about curing burnout and tackling tasks that make your life easier!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes! Udemy is a GODSEND! Between Udemy and Erin Booth, another virtual assistant, I felt prepared and ready to begin my journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Creating my website. I am considered my most to be a techie person; however, I do not agree. I am more analytical. I appear to be good at many things because I pick it apart, analyzing every piece. My initial thought was to pay for someone to build and create my website for me. However, I also struggle with delegating AND not knowing. I kept thinking, I need to know how to do this on my own. What if it isn’t right? What if I want to make changes? What if it breaks? If I begin by paying someone, I’ll always pay someone! So, I decided to do it on my own. I stayed up many nights going over every detail and intricacy that creates a website. It was hard and I wanted to quit many times! MANY TIMES! I am still learning SEO today; however, I would not trade this experience.
