We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Candace Duggan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Candace, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I have ever given to a client has been to get massages regularly drink lots of water after a session. Not drinking enough water might cause pain, fatigue, and Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, after your massage.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

And lastly I’m a dedicated yogi, with the deepest gratitude for my practice. I lead a holistic lifestyle, based on self care, dedication to family, and service to my community.
community.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
No, I would do it all again in a heartbeat! I have helped thousands of clients over the years achieve their massage goals. My clients leave feeling better and that is the most rewarding part of my profession. I have a strong desire to help others through the healing power of touch. Another passion of my profession has been working with athletes! I really enjoy helping them get ready before competition and being right there for them during recovery.
As far as my artwork goes. I couldn’t even imagine my life without art. I’m humbled by my creativity and firmly believe my artwork is meant to be a healing to myself and the world.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
My own self-care! I’m a dedicated yogi and live a holistic lifestyle. Yoga has helped me to navigate my grief, process my daily life, connect my mind, body, and spirit. Ethos in Holly, Mi is my home studio and I adore all the teachers and workshops they offer. By taking care of myself it allows me to take the best care of my clients.
Also I have a natural ability through touch to help bring relief to others. Therapeutic massage is my favorite, I find that I can use multiple techniques and movements to achieve a successful session.
