We were lucky to catch up with Camryn Mincey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Camryn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
As an entrepreneur I have a drive to achieve. I used to be incredibly hard on myself for not meeting self given timelines. One of my mentors, Jenna Lee, asked me a simple question that helped me refocus. “So? What timeline? Why does that matter?”
All that to say, we can’t control all of life’s twists and turns. Anytime is the perfect time to start a business. It’s never too late and added experience can only be a benefit.
Camryn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a mom of 3, as is my cofounder. We struggled as new moms to find community and answers to our (many!) questions.
Our desire is to empower moms through an authentic platform to ask the hard yet helpful questions and to receive answers anonymously. The driver of anonymity is to create open dialogue and eliminate self branding. As we performed our market research two things stuck out: we’re always first time moms. A first time mom to a newborn or a first time mom dropping off her college freshman. And in a room full of moms, someone has the answer!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We started to build a social media presence by sharing content that we knew our audience would relate to. Everyone enjoys feeling seen, heard and validated. We mix in business posts with “just for fun” posts.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My cofounder and I met when we were moms to newborns. I was the first of my friends to have a baby and was so lonely during the transition to motherhood! Jaime had a baby about 4 months after me and a friend gave her my number to reach out for new mom questions. Thats how we met and was the foundation of MomBrain!
