We recently connected with Camryn Malone and have shared our conversation below.
Camryn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
My first client was a girl I use to work with a few years back. She saw I had just started doing lashes and offered herself as my model. I did her lashes every few weeks, she was my only client for a while. After a month and a half I did her lashes about 4 times so I made a Instagram and Facebook , then started marketing myself. I used Facebook marketplace for a little while and got a few people from there. I posted all my pictures each time I had a client and it grew from there. I’m so appreciative to my old coworker because I got to really practice my craft on her and she was always down. Shout out to her!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Camryn, I have a lash extensions business called Trippi Studio. I specialize in volume lash sets. I am currently working on my own lash supplies to be sold starting in the fall. My brand is about being the best you, uniquely you. And I show that through how I lash, I create my sets for my clients uniquely to their eyes. You can find my portfolio on Instagram @trippistudio and follow for updates, specials, and lash extension education.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I started funding my business while I was working full time as a patient care coordinator. I would put away a hundred bucks every week until I saved up to get my class and the supplies I needed to get started. I worked and lashed for about 8 months then I was able to quite my job and focus on growing my business. It was a big leap of faith because my job was my secure income but I wanted to try doing things on my own. And I did and I haven’t had a job for over 6 months. I thank my clients for continuing to come to me to make that possible.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media (specifically Instagram) with the help of my boyfriend and YouTube. He is a marketing expert so he did most of my ads that were ran on Facebook and Instagram. Running ads helped bring in new clients. I used YouTube to look up ways on growing my Instagram page & found that hashtags, adding your location, and content was important on growing your page. When using hashtags there is a science to it. You have to tag your area and suburbs around you, stuff you think your clients would be into, and use the hashtags that don’t have millions of people using them. I am still applying this today and it’s continuing to grow my business.
