We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camryn Levert. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camryn below.
Hi Camryn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew I wanted to sing on a family trip to the Dominican Republic when I was 5. The resort we were staying at hosted a talent show for kids every other night and they asked me earlier in the day if I wanted to participate and I said “no, there probably won’t be a lot of people there.” Later that night, when I saw the turn out and there was lots of people in the audience I ran up to the host and asked her to add me in last minute. Next thing you know I’m mic’d up, in costume, singing one of my favorite Toni Braxton songs and I knew then I wanted to perform for the rest of my life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m very lucky to have grew up with a mom who was very supportive of my dreams. We had a neighbor who noticed that I had a passion for singing and he was in the music industry so he would help me book shows in the Las Vegas and California area and also record music. I began doing that at the age of eight until around 13 which really helped shape me for my career later on and then I took a break to really focus on finishing high school. Once I graduated, I flew to New York with my favorite artist D’Moreya and worked with producer SwaggRcelious and he helped me create my first EP titled Moments, with that EP my song, let go reached over 100,000 views on YouTube and played on the radio all over the world. I have a song titled Moments featuring Lexi Alijai (RIP) and that song means the world to me, especially to have her featured on it because it’s one of the last songs she released before her untimely passing and the lyrics are absolutely incredible. From there I went on to meet a lot more creatives and continue to do alot more in the industry and I’ve recently released my first album titled My Oasis with the help of the most talented people in the world including D’Moreya, Carly Bruce, Ryan Tedder, Aaron Karsh, and Jay Alexander. It’s currently going on 500,000 streams and counting and we are continuously releasing content for all the singles and I couldn’t be more proud of this project. I sing about what I’m going through in my life and I created this project in hopes that it will reach the people who need to hear it.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is receiving messages from people all around the world, saying how one of my songs help them through a hard time or one of my songs just made them smile, and seeing people dance to my music when I perform. That’s the best part of what I do.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When building an audience on social media, the best way to go about it is to be your authentic self and be consistent. It’s also very important to engage with your audience. You also want to put out content that is true to you and your brand. Always make sure that you love it as well, and take breaks when necessary because mental health always comes first.
