We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cam’ron Harvey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cam’ron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
My Clothing Brand Name Is Fragile Worldwide and The Overall Meaning Of Fragile Is Being Able To Be Original and Yourself At All Times , Not Allowing Anybody To Cause or Peer Pressure You To Be Somebody Your Not So In The Logo There’s A Women Holding An “ Ugly Face “ And That Ugly Face Represents Everything She’s Not While The Regular Face Represents Who She Really Is and How I Came Up With The Name Was From Seeing Different Scenarios On The Daily In My Transition From Highschool To Adult World Noticing So Many Different Walks Of Life Unhappy or Putting On A Front To Be Something Their Truly Not To Fit In Most Times or To Just Get By and Fragile Was A Universal Name That Stuck With Me Because As People We Always Go Through So Much Within That We’re All Truly Fragile But That Doesn’t Mean We’re Broken Individuals Who Have To Hide Who We Are To Be Accepted.
Cam’ron, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
First I Would Like To Introduce Myself My Name Is Cam’ron Harvey Owner and Creator Of Fragile Worldwide A Clothing Brand I Run Alongside My Brother Javon. Before Fragile Came About I’ve Always Been A Creative Individual Since A Kid I Would Make Wresting Belts Out Of Paper or Cardboard , Practice Drawing , Distressing Jeans , Almost Anything Crafty Was Something That Kept My Attention Spand There But I Also Was A Kid That Was Always Into Money So I Could Buy Myself Anything I Wanted At Whatever Time I Felt So As A Young Gentleman I Would Self Teach Myself The Ropes Of The Business and Learned The Key Thing Is Long As You Have A Great Sales Pitch and Personality You Can Sell Any Item The Blueprints The Same The Product Just Changes. Already Being Crafty and Falling Inlove With Learning The Business Side Of Things I Also Was Always An Individual Into Fashion So When I Figured Out I Can Make My Own Product , My Own Logo , and Share It With The Public It Was A No Brainer . Mixing My Interest In Business , Crafts , & Fashion I Created And Introduced Fragile Worldwide Which I Will Also Note I Went Through Multiple Different Names and Logos Before Solidifying FW As The Name To Run With, It Definitely Wasn’t An Overnight Process It Came With A lot Of Trial and Tribulation To Get One Name and Logo That Stuck and Stood Out The Most. My Brand Is A Brand That Represents Originality So Standing Out From My Competitors Is Always Trying To Provide Quality Pieces At The Right Prices But Also Limited Pieces So The Garments Tell A Personal Story For The Buyer. As A Local Brand The Items We Drop Also Set Us Apart Such As Fragile Belts , Coin Pouches , Lighter Holders , Pillows , Etc. All At Very Affordable Prices. I Want Everybody Reading To Understand That We’re A Brand For The People We Want To Inspire But Also Give Back To Our Communities and Kids That Lost or Feel No Hope It’s Not About The Money More Than It Is About Spreading The Message Of Being Yourself Bringing Awareness That It’s Okay To Be Different and Stand Out Showing There’s Different Ways To Make It and Be Somebody In This Difficult Life I Want Everybody To Take Note Of The Message More Than Anything. Also I Want The Viewers To Understand And Respect The Creatives , Being An Entrepreneur There’s Times We Feel Boxed In and Not Ourselves Just To Please Our Customers , It Makes It Ten Times Harder On Us Because Our Personal Life’s and Those We Choose To Implement In Our Lives Play A Role Into Who Supports Our Business Which I Think All Entrepreneurs Can Agree So We Definitely Have To Keep A Tight Discipline and Calculate Every Move So We’re Not Affecting Our Business As Well The Discipline We Have To Have In Our Personal Lives To Push Our Dreams To Reality. Most Of Us Deal With Everyday Problems That Also Play Apart In Us Dropping Our Collections That’s Why Most Of Us Always Preach Heavily About Support Even If It’s A Post or Feedback To Elevate What We’re Doing Because We Put Our All Into These Ideas And Our Own Hard Money So The Support We Do Get We Overly Appreciate Each and Every One Of Our Supports . At Times I Do Lose Motivation To Continue When I Have Personal Life Issues Going On or When I Feel I’m Not Getting The Support but There’s Always Things Like These Interviews and Your Continues Regular Supporters That Keep You Going I Would Also Like To Give Thanks To My Brother A Huge Part Of Fragile , I’m Moreso In The Background Creating and Design Everything But Im The Shyer Individual Out Of Us So He’s More Vocal When It Comes to Posting and Marketing The Brand He’s My Guy That Helps Make It Happen and Keep Us Going. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In This Market I Believe Our Customer Service , Quality , Passion , Consistency and Events We Threw Kept Our Name Buzzing and Relevant. How You Treat People As Well As The Products Your Marketing Go Along In This Industry But Also The Supporters Want To See How Consistent You Are With What You’ve Already Displayed . So Years In We’re Still Upholding Our Customer Service , Quality , and Throwing Events The Supporters Can Come To , Talk , and Shop With Us Personally.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The Lesson I Had To Unlearn Was Every Friend Isn’t A Supporter and We’re Not Creating To Please Our Friends . When Starting A Business Of Any Kind That’s The First Lesson I Feel We Learn Because Our Minds Are Geared To Automatically Believe Our Friends Will Support Any and Everything We’re Doing When We Don’t Realize The People Closest To Us Will Feel More Entitled Than The People We Don’t Know and The People We Don’t Know Are Willing To Give The Hardcore Feedback We Need To Push The Brand In A Better Direction. So Never Expect Your Friends Or Family Support To Save The Disappointment.
