We recently connected with Camille Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Camille , appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
A lot of people complain about friends and families support, the lack of. The one thing I can say about that, I have their support, maybe not all of them but a good handful and I’m Appreciative of that . Sometimes it can be hate and discouragement and I do apologize for The ones that are going through that. I can say I have support from my friends and family thank you.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well my name is Camille. I started doing business cards business cards 15 years ago I believe.. And at that point my business was called CLK designs . Those initials stood for the mine & the 2 children I had. i 15 years ago.
Now My business goes by Designs by Camille. I started off with just doing business cards and flyers. I now have added much more like, banners, backdrops then I added whatever the customer requested. Websites videos , car freasies,’Yoonek earrings ” Just ask me ill do it.
I get things done in time.. I do request 2 week turn around, but with a rush fee I can get it done in less time.
The list of what I do can go long. Just ask me ill work it out

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
This was nothing but a blessing.
I had to quit my job as a hairstylist and and customer service due to my physical issues in my body so I was actually out of work for 6 months, broke.
While I was out of work I lost my house, Car got damaged.. Me and my children had to move back in with my mother.
My doctor Advise me to file for disability. I really did not want to because I always heard they kept turning people down.
I remember lying in bed thinking about T shirts and how everyone walking around with Marilyn Monroe on their shirts and I wanted to do something different but I don’t have any money.
I’ll try to make this shorter lol.
Long story short I got a proved for disability 1st time around . Shocked? Me Too!
So I took that money and invested in my business. Got almost everything I needed to get started and that’s how I started my T-shirt line called something new BBW.
BBW stood for Beautiful Black Women.

It really wasn’t a lot to fund my business, but thank God for the business I got to help me get more things over the years.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes my side hustle.! I said back then I would do business cards here and there for people and print them and design them. But I still had a full time job either I was doing hair, or i was A customer service rep for a company on the phone.. I did like doing that but I really loved designing.
I used to get business calls while I was at work. I could not wait to get off to take care of whatever that customer ordered. I remember sitting there at my desk at work thinking I really wish I could just do what I love as a business..
As I sit here and write this, I do it with a smile on my face. I’m actually doing what I wished for 15 years ago .
That feeling you get when your phone rings and it’s business, your cash app goes off and it’s business, your account goes off its business. I’m not sure how you feel with that,? but it makes me feel so good
I used to get upset and hurt when I would lose a customer. What I’ve noticed is when I lose one i gain two. God did not bring me this far to let me go.
I have had hard times where I want to say forget it forget it. The phone calls won’t stop coming and I’m so grateful for that.

My dad was a business owner he ran a karate studio. He’s gone now. But if he was here I think he would be so proud of me.
