We recently connected with Camille McLucas and have shared our conversation below.
Camille, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents instilled in me to literally never quit. Keep going! Never give up on your dream. Have faith and continue to press on even when things get tough. Those words are needed whenever you’re pursuing your purpose in life because no one ever said things will be easy or handed to you. When I was in Los Angeles it was super hard being so far away from family and friends. Experiencing rejection at every turn with auditions was tough and made me want to quit however, my parents words of never quitting and keep going stayed in my head. So I continued to press on celebrating the wins and the failures because I learn from both. Here I stand still pursuing my passions and life purpose because I will always lean on faith to get through, never quit.

Camille, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I broke into the industry through dance. I moved to Los Angeles and started taking dance classes, auditioned for agencies, got signed to an agency, started dancing for music artists in music videos, award shows, tours, and live performances. Started making connections with different choreographers who would bring me on to work with them on different projects as well. Remembering that talent is easy but discipline, professionalism, and just being a good person speaks volumes and makes people want to work with you and be around you. I am most proud of maintaining a sense of self. Remaining true to who I am and how I want to be remembered by people.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to show young people that as long as you stay driven, focused, and never quit that your dream can happen! Without connections, or coming from money, just having faith, being patient, and keep that love and passion alive for your dream that you can literally move mountains.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is when people tell me that I inspire them and made them go after their passion or dream. That’s when I know I’m in my purpose and doing what God has called me to do.
