We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camille Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camille below.
Alright, Camille thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I used to wish that I started cosmetology earlier, but when I think about it, I feel like my life now would be completely different. It’s interesting how our choices, whether made early or later in life, shape the unique paths we end up on. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the “what-ifs” and how they might have altered our journeys.
Had I begun my cosmetology journey earlier, I might have gained more experience by now and possibly established myself in the industry sooner. However, the timing of my decision to pursue cosmetology has also brought its own set of advantages.
My life circumstances and personal growth have played a significant role in shaping who I am as a hairstylist today. The people I’ve met, the challenges I’ve faced, and the skills I’ve gained outside of cosmetology have all contributed to my complete development as a professional.
Camille, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
If you’re new to my story and wondering how I ventured into the world of hairstyling and became a business owner, let me take you on a journey. Before I began my hairstyling career, I found myself at a lost, unsure of my true calling. I had an idea of owning a coffee shop, which led me to enroll in the Food and Beverage Management program at the Art Institute of Houston.
Soon after I started, I discovered that my true passion was not in the food and beverage industry. After I graduated from the Art Institute of Houston, I then ended up getting a job with Marriott. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the thought of entering the world of hairstyling.
Fast forward 10 years later and I proudly stand as a hairstylist and a thriving business owner, offering a wide variety of hairstyling. Also, boosting my clients’ self-confidence and helping them express their unique personalities through their hair is the cherry on top.
What sets me apart from others in this industry is not just my technical skill but also my dedication to client satisfaction.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a hairstylist and braider, as a creative professional, is the ability to use my artistic talent to boost my clients’ confidence and help them express their unique style and identity.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media presence by posting daily until my followers organically increased and my clientele grew significantly.
My advice for those starting out is to avoid comparing yourself to others and to maintain a consistent posting schedule, regardless of the number of likes or views. Remember, people are watching, and persistence pays off!
