Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Camille Cameron. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Camille, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I am so thankful to earn a full-time living from my creative work. I have always been creative. Even as a young girl, I would draw and paint. I also participate in the musical arts. As I got older, I knew I wanted to make this my life’s work. I went to Brevard College on a volleyball scholarship. Volleyball was the vehicle, but art was my path. I completed Brevard the Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Photography. At Brevard, I took different classes and explored many art mediums. I received professional painting instruction here as well. I continued my education at Savannah College of Art and Design, attaining my Master’s Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Experience.
Overall, my art education opened many doors and exposed me to many resources I never knew existed. I am grateful to have experienced it all! I apply the knowledge acquired daily in my field of work. I now work corporately as a creative director! I also service various clients through freelance with my own company, Simply Camille Arts. I am a painter as well. I currently sell my paintings through Simply Camille Arts and art shows. I aspire to have an art gallery someday.
Camille, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry after completing my education in Graphic Design. I offer graphic design services and expertise. My design menu features various print and digital works. I also focus in conceptual art. I am most proud of my ability to think creatively and be flexible. I have some really cool projects in the works. I can’t speak too much on them now but they are coming! Simply Camille Arts’ business goal is to creatively and effectively create for clients of any kind. I work to bring your vision to life!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think the NFT boom has created an interesting dynamic. I appreciate that NFT creation offers freedom to artist. I created the Angry Bear NFT club in November 2021. The mints I created to start the NFT club have since been bought by a client of mine. How great? I was super happy they loved the collection enough to support the art on that level.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew about art books earlier in my creative journey. I learned about the diversity of art literature and that opened the door to art history for me. I LOVE art history. I definitely consider myself an art nerd. I collect art books now as result of the exposure I received in college. SCAD’s art library is absolutely amazing. I would get lost in there for hours.
